When can we see the Sal collaboration
When can we see the Sal collaboration
Sal,
I was wondering when we're going to see a model collaborated with your specs and personal likes with a signature across it the way James Keating did on the Chinook.I would like to see a signature piece from the man himself, and all input from the mind who has given the knife world all that it is today. You've done so much, let's commemorate you for it,I and all the forumites and anyone who's ever used a knife with a clip or serrations would be nowhere without what you and Spyderco have done
Someday my friends,I'll own em all!!!

Hi Sal,
Yes, something that anyone who looks at it will see Sal Glesser on it.I was thinking maybe something simple for maybe along the lines of the integral compression lock, the ATR hood ,definetly serrated, special clip, something unseen as of yet.My thoughts focus on a blade design such as,from the handle to front would consist of the first 2.5 in off of the civilian with the deep belly extending instead of the hook point into more of the endura point with the enhanced tip strength that has been added. So it would be 60% civilian, 40%endura This would be very useful utility wise as well as a MBC line if desired.Handle material would be your favorite ,and the clip could be switched from tip-up down or left and right depending on whether or not the "hood" idea is used. This is all just in the knife case in my mind ,but I would love more than anything to input any suggestions for this special model.

Sal, I think rather than a whole new model that could take months or years to come out with, I would like for you to pick the model that you feel best conveys your philosophy and design to a Spyderco Knife! Then make a limited edition model of it with your signature in Gold on the blade, like you did the Moran 1st edition! My guess is, it would be the Police Model or the Worker, which were Spyderco's mainstay models for years!!!

I see alot of Sal's thinking in the Military and other regular production models. However, I agree that a Glesser Custom Collaboration (not a regular production knife) is in order to honor one of the most influential knife designer on the planet. The knife should be a user and be made with premium materials befitting the honoree. Sal, don't be so modest--You the Man! <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>
I aggree that if Sal is to put his name on it, it should be one his own designs.
Simply take one of his designs from the lineup, and do something like,
.use his favorite blade confi.
.use his favorite handle material,
.add the spyderco logo to the handle,
.sign the blade, and make
.them available as a regular, as well as
.a limited run that is serialized for collectors.
Not knowing what models Sal designed in the lineup, I couldn't suggest a model to start with.
What ever it is, it's quaranteed to sale fast.
