From AKTI:
The City of Chicago, for instance that prohibits the carry of any knife with a blade longer than 2 ½ inches.
The blade length of the Robin, at 2.438" (62mm) seems purpose-built for this kind of city ordinance.

If budget allows you may also consider the Chicago, Cat, Dragonfly, or McBee.

Blade length is from the end of the scale to the tip of the blade. Spyderco also provides edge length information.

Is 2 or 2 1/2" Chicago legal blade length?

Yes I've read posts but the Chicago (purposely built for Chicago blade laws?) has an overall blade length (tip to edge of scale) of 2". Edge around 1 3/4"

The robin is 2.4" from tip to scale with a full 2" of edge.

Assuming the Chicago is longest possible length does this exclude robin from legal Chicago carry?

Hopefully this illuminates my concern.

I think since you are trying to split hairs and figure out exactly what is and is not legal, you should go straight to the laws as written and determine them for yourself.

There is a reason why police only enforce law and judges and lawyers are needed determine what actually holds up. It's a complicated world and that's what specialists are for.
