$535 Wegner!!!

Some guy just bought an original Wegner Trakker (with paw prints) for $535 on ebay. Highest price I've ever seen for a Spydie. Hot bidding. It went from about 280. to the final price in 2 minutes!! Probably a great find...unless this knife finally gets produced.

Yar,I bid $500 on it. There's this little frellnick named heidi_smilz who's been snaking Spydies out from under me by running a script that lets her drop a bid one increment over the highest less than a minute before closing. Figured w/a $500 bid,I'd either get it or make her pay. She snaked the #001 blue Forum Native from me,and this other dude got the Trakker. He was dropping bids at 9sec intervals. Little such-and-such's tick me off,cheating like that.

Oh well,he did pay for it. Even as a proto,I don't see the value going up that high. Plus Sal said over in Bladeforums that it shouldn't have left the factory. Maybe it was 'apropriated' and someone's going to get in trouble. Or it could even be a scam. One knife's a proto,the other was last seen on BladeArt's site not too long ago selling for more than the final bid. If I'd won either,I would've used PayPal's money back guarantee to be safe.

The guy that won the trakker has been spending some SERIOUS Spydie money over the last few months. He's the same one that dropped 2500 bucks on that package of 15 or so hard to find Spydies about a month ago. Seem like he landed a CF Goddard as part of that package among others ...

dynaryder,looks like ebay would be able to stop that kind of stuff.I was wondering why I was being outbid on everything I was bidding on in the last minite or two lately.I am just about finished with ebay.The last 3 things I have gotten have been small and buy it now.Another thing I hate about ebay is that they allow a seller to cancel the auction just because the price isn't going high enough.I have had this to happen 3 times.The last thing was a Luminox watch dutch auction,a couple of hour before the close of the auction the seller canceled.The bid was only at 50.00.He had like 20 watches he was going to loose his*****on but thats why there is a reserve setting.

dynarider and JSmith - Ebay is very simple. Either you bid the highest price, or it goes to someone else. If you think that last second "snipering" automated or no is not in the spirit of an auction, you should reconsider participating in this type of auction. Proxy bidding means you should put up your highest price before the last few seconds. That way, you don't have to be at the mercy of anyone's technology.

I understand that the high bidder is the high bidder.That doesn't bother me that much.Its the ones that cancell the auction when the bidding isn't going high enough that really gets me.

A clarification on the Blue Forum Native. The collectors knives were a part of the other 400 knives that were not a part of the '1 of 300 Bladeforum' knives. I just acquired #063 for $70. I am very peased that I didn't have to go through e-bay <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

I checked that Ebay buyer's feedback profile a while ago when they beat me. I'm not sure it's a gal. Bought lots of militaria and even a retired big Ford police car complete with light bar and all....over ten grand if I recall. Weird dude maybe. Musta hit a lotto or somethin'. I sure can't buy like that. Sad, cheater with a fat wallet.

As you may recall I have said in other posts I would pay as much as 500 Cdn dollars for a G-10 PE Bob T Sr. It may not be worth it to you but for me I would pay that in a heart beat. That is THE Spyderco for me.
If you want a knife bad enough you will buy it. The person might want it for a personal reason, or they just got too much **** money. Either way they obviously got a knife they wanted, really bad. Take Care!!!

Zrex/Scolby:my prob is w/punks cheating w/scripts. It's one thing to drop a high bid just before closing. If someone else has bid higher,they get it. But when you're running a script that will drop a bid one increment above the highest at the last moment,faster than humanly possible,then noone else has a chance. Heidi_smilz beat me on 4 items w/a bid exactly one increment over my highest w/in the last few seconds before closing. No way you're gonna guess someone's high bid that many times. I also had one guy beat me out once by dropping a bid $.01 over mine 3 sec before closing,which shouldn't even have worked(min bid was $2.50)

In a live auction,you can bid as high as you are willing to go. But these guys running whatever programs they're using is like insider trading in the stock market. They're guarenteed to win.

Smith:why would eBay get involved? The higher the final price,the bigger thier cut. And they're having enough probs just trying to keep up w/the fraud complaints.

Dynarider... of course she beat you with one bid increment... proxy bidding will only go 1 over your highest bid.

stop your belly aching and suck it up, bid the highest price your willing to pay and let it go at that, if someone outbids you then tough titty... you put a price on the item and thats where they beat you. if you had put your proxy bid in at $600-$700 you probabluy would have won the knife or made someone pay more then you figured the item was worth.
