Cheap and ugly

Keeping it cheap and ugly to match my style. I dream that I can leave it on a picnic table and no one would steal it, unless they knew what it was. Made from leftover leather, cord and too much time. For the record, cord wraps suck. I am saving for a kydex sheath and GID scales, until then it is just a measure of what any person can do to get into the Mule game.

Not sure if I will figure out better picture quality to really get into the forum game. It is a Pd#1 Mule with fluorescent paracord.

Haha nice! Whatever it takes to make it work! Looking forward to seeing those GITD scales.

I've had success in making sheathes and holsters out of PVC pipe material. It's not as nice as kydex, but you can work it the same way.

How has your experience with this steel been?

I do not really get the time or opportunity to really experience steel. I know it is the sharpest blade out of the box that I have owned. Sharper than Spy27, 20cv, lc200n, S35vn. Again that is out of the box so we have to assume that I would receive the very best, quality controlled example of a Pd#1 Mule that Spyderco could send.

Really, it is just fun to cut 4 hot dog sticks with 4 knives and dream that I can tell something relevant about the differences.

I like the PVC tip. I have used HDPE plastic from an old toboggan to make a holster in the past and it worked great.

For me, the upside of a folder is having the edge free from any contact when it is stored. I think it is really difficult to construct a fixed blade sheath that holds the knife in, but does not contact the edge.

The upsides of a Mule Team... build your own kit knife, test other Mules and test with friends of the Mule, or hoard it away in a safe. It really is the knife world Trinity. Better than baseball, 3 swings at a Mule and you get even deeper into the knife game instead of a seat on the bench.

Wow! And then some. That is really serious. I'll follow your tutorial once you send the link and promise to have a better attitude about cord wraps. Go Mule Team!!

Wow! Do you have a how-to video for your method of wrapping? I'd love to try it on my pd#1 mule.

There are two of each on that rack, one cord wrapped and used a lot, one for future use. Two of the future use have carbon fiber scales, but that's as far as I ever got on that part.

Can't say I really have a favorite, but the K390 and Maxamet have seen the most use.

I don't have a video, but I have a step-by-step tutorial with pictures over on Bladeforums. If I could figure out how, I'd post a link to it.

Let's see if this works. https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/cor ... le.931472/

I hate to think what it would cost to duplicate that. I don't even want to figure up how much I spent buying two of each as they came out.

Seeing this kind of work makes my heart beat faster. Very nice. Thanks for showing it.

I rolling the idea about glow in the dark scales. At first I said no way, but then the idea started working on me, and yes,
I could see the sense in that for one of my mules anyway.

Funny I had the handle done and when I picked it up the sheath was a bonus.
Had a few custom knives made and wanted a old butchers knife my father owned re-profiled and the cracked handle replaced. It came with a sheath also.
