I just purchased 2 Rescue models, one each of the old and new designs. Used some of the posts here to help make my decision. I've been a First Responder and EMT for 18 years--looked high and low most of that time for a good knife to carry with my gear and on duty. Never heard of Spyderco until the last two years when I got back active as an EMT, but I have found the solution in the Rescue. Thank You Spyderco! And thanks everyone for all the great info. on the different Spyders out there.

Welcome to the <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> forum, LT!!

I don't think that you could have picked a better EMT tool than the Rescue. By chance, though, have you seen the new <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> Assist w/carbide glass breaker? <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

KBR--Thanks for the reply. I haven't seen an actual Assist model with the punch in the handle although I looked at it briefly on another site. Looks like a great blade--gotta be careful or I'll get just as hooked as the rest of you! I feel like a little kid with a new toy--running around trying the Rescue on everything I can think of to cut! I think I'll be getting the Rescue Jr. for my wife (also an EMT, but brand new to it). I've been having difficulty finding the Rescue in the retail stores around here--mostly they sell the Police, Military and other models. One dealer didn't even know the Rescue 93mm existed, although he still sells the discontinued C14 Rescue. Go figure.

Aw, ****, you'll get used to sleeping in the doghouse. I have cable television hooked up to my doghouse, and I'm having wall-to-wall carpet installed next week. :-)
It's not so bad...
