What’s a cheap cat. ?

PS.. I don’t like the Shaman but don’t tell anyone.
I am not a fan of FRN no matter what the blade or steel is. Feels cheap and weak to me.

I don't like wire clip.
And I think knives under 3.5 inches are just small.

Backlock is the best thing since sliced bread.
1. Fully agree
2. Agreed when it comes to EDC or SD but small knives have their place for sure
3. Not a fan of backlocks except when Spyderco does them. They are rock solid and a pleasure to use. I think right now my favorite lock is the CBB

I like many knives but wish the blade steel was something else. The Bow River is something I could use but I'd like a better steel option. The Tenacious and Resilience again are a great design but need a better steel option. For the same reason I don't buy the high carbon steels that rust if you look at them sideways. That corrosion on the outside is a lot worse on the inside.
What about 8cr13mov do you find lacking specifically and what type of steel do you feel would be an upgrade?

Do you have examples of what you are talking about with high carbon steel knives? I've actually not seen this happen but have seen plenty of superficial surface rust that's easily removed with and acid like Barkeeper's Friend or a Scotchbrite pad and leaves zero pitting behind. I have, however, seen a few examples of pitting on stainless steels. Pics would be nice also.

Too many knives as jewelry posts in the knife community and not enough knives as tools. Half the posts on the Facebook group when the 15v models came out involved immediately swapping scales and clips. I guess people don't NEED a knife as often as they want to. Meanwhile social media mechanic have no qualms using and abusing their $2-300 ratchets

Also fuzzy Micarta feels weird to me. I like it polished, but the fuzzy variant feels like holding a piece of fire hose, and gets real grimey.

I don't like the compression lock (wrote in detail as to why elsewhere).
Yes, the backlock is the best.

All FRN models should have PB washers (some have nothing at all).

I think Spyderco should reshore the production from China.

apologies for my newb question but what's PB stand for? I'm assuming the "b" means bushing?

I love black G10 handles.
I like wire clips on G10 handles.
I like FRN.
I love translucent blue FRN (but don't own any).
I like the Caribbean handle exactly as it was designed.
I 'collect' knives that will never have meaningful lives, only sometimes cutting slim slivers of paper.

If I like a knife, I usually modify it. I can't leave well enough alone. This is sometimes viewed as foppery on the forum, disdained as form over function, but it's how I'm wired. An unmodified knife means I'm not interested in it. Same with rifles, handguns, fishing equipment, etc.

Probably not unpopular, just different: I choose clip type, brand and location based on how the knife feels in hand, not which pocket I plan to carry it in, for depth of carry, or speed of deployment.
