The pen may be mightier than the sword, but the knife is cooler than the pen.

Ah, Dr. Hannibal Lecter's blade of choice!w3tnz wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2020 2:05 pmIt’s the delica for me as well if I had to pick one, but as others mentioned any time I see a hole in a blade I think spyderco. Also hawkbills and reverse s shaped blades particularly if fully serrated are quite iconic to me, the civilian is a hard one to forget.

The OP asked for a "there" knife, not a "here" knife.

I'm being a wise guy of course, nonetheless the military is a quintessential Spyderco without a doubt,PoisonedPizza wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2020 10:33 pmLMAO I meant ''their'', I need grammar help.Tucson Tom wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2020 3:04 pmMilitary

and a model known to many who are not Spyderco maniacs like the gang here.

Delica comes to mind as the knife, however when I hear Spyderco my first thought is often the Sharpmaker as I had one of these long before being aware of Spyderco knives

Native, dragonfly, delica and endura. Not coincidentally that's probably the list of my most carried Spyderco knives.

Well right now it's the shaman and the SpyOpera since those are the two I'm currently eyeing. But generally speaking the Delica in grey frn and plain black g10 para 3.
Lightly insane.

You kind of stole my thunder but in a good way>> and in some ways I can't argue that selection at all. But the first Spyderco I ever had to where I felt like I truly had a piece of the Spyderco company and their genius in the form of a knife was when I got my first C-60 Massad Ayoob model. There are just so many aspects of that model that no other company could of duplicated other than Spyderco.
Also my very first Spyder I ever bought in the Spring of 1995 was my GIN-1, full SE, Mariner model. There was no mistake who made that knife either. Great thread!!!

For me the Paramilitary 2 is the first Spyderco knife that comes to mind.
Many other good options, but I answered the question

For me it will always be the Endura. I bought an Endura and a Rescue in 1991 when I was in the Army and it totally changed the way I looked at knives. I even went to a special operations expo in I believe 1992 at Ft. Bragg and Spyderco had a booth there. Whoever that was manning the booth was quicker and smoother with knife deployment than anyone I had ever seen and I have been hooked on Spyderco knives ever since. Unfortunately I lost my original Endura in Yosemite National Park, but I still have the Rescue.

Yeah, for me it is the Navigator II, it is a great little knife with VG-10 steel. The handle and blade are shaped like the MeerKat but with a back lock. A nice slender design. Here is the photo I posted in the flashlight thread. To be honest I dehorned the blade. Above the opening hole there was originally a horn, just like the Meerkat and similar to the Dragonfly II. I was not a fan of it so I rounded it off a bit. It suits me much better.

The Delica & Endura are the knives that most readily come to mind when I hear "Spyderco". They weren't my first Spydercos, but they were the first Spyderco designs I became aware of way back in the mid/late-1990s.
