You could be right>> and maybe he might be a good fit for the Jags but there are so many of these coaches out of the college ranks that have fizzled out very quickly in the NFL.

I wonder if that is changing though. The NFL has become more inventive and dynamic (especially in offensive play calling). Pete Carroll, God bless him, still thinks that running on early downs will help the Seahawks. Too bad there is overwhelming statistical evidence that this is not an optimal strategy. More and more NFL coaches are evolving and moving away from the type of game I used to watch as a kid (90's Cowboys). The college game has always been more inventive than the NFL, but that was always an excuse why the college "gimmicks" wouldn't work in the NFL. Maybe college coaches will gain more traction in today's NFL? But you're right, a sterling college resume is no guarantee for success in the NFL.

I'm more worried about his mental issues. He had to step away from the game twice. If you take him at his word (and I see no reason to not to), things were really bad for him. I can't say if coaching for the Jags or Ohio State is more stressful. However, he will be taking on much more responsibility and stress than working in the booth.

OK tomorrow is the "Divisional Round" of the playoffs. We have the Green Bay Packers going against the L.A. Rams at Lambeau Field>> I'm picking the Packers to win that one by 10 points plus. It won't be an easy game however. But I don't see hardly any chance of the Packers losing this one at home

Second you've got the Buffalo Bills playing the Baltimore Ravens at Orchard Park NY. I'm taking the Bills on that game by 3 to 7 points>> it's going to be a close game I'm sure. Josh Allen could really stake his claim in this game

Third and most interesting are the Kansas City Chiefs playing the Cleveland Browns here at beautiful ARROWHEAD Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. I've got a lot of confidence that the Chiefs will win this one by over 10 points and maybe more. I truly think the Chief's defense is going to be ready for this one. Sir Patrick has had plenty of rest and plenty of time to get his game plan together. Oh Sure upsets are always possible>>but the Chief's players are really up for this one.

Last but most certainly not least is the Tampa Bay Buccuneers playing the New Orleans Saints at their home stadium. I do believe the Saints will win this one. They usually do quite well when they are playing at home. Drew Brees really wants this one really bad. I think that the Saints are really ready for this one too. I think the Saints will win this one by at least a touchdown.. I think Alvin Kamara will be more than the Bucs can handle as well as the rest of the weapons that the Saints have.

That's my call on the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs.

Pete Carroll is one of the rare exceptions of a coach making a very successful transition between College and the NFL. It hasn't been that long that Nick Saban who is considered a football God by many college fans>> but when Saban was the head coach of the lowly Miami Dolfins it was a terrible time for him and the Dolphin's organization both. It really blows my mind how bad he did in the NFL but he may go down as the best college coach ever at this rate.

Steve Spurrier's tenure with the Washington Football Team was pathetic at best and that's about as nice as I can be about it. I've wondered if Daniel Snyder and his team are cursed>> nothing else makes any sense IMO.

I think the Bills will beat the Ravens and the Packers will beat the Rams, but I agree with the Browns and the Bucs winning their games!
