I love small .357s. Hard to go wrong with either of these. A 3” Sp101 and a 360. Both great and similar in size but totally different guns. The Sp101 weighs twice as much and while it is harder to carry it is much easier to shoot. That said, I have put some fire breathers through the 360 and while it gets real unpleasant after about ten of them it is still manageable.

Very nice combos! 357 mag is a great round . I like Ruger revolvers pretty much bomb proof.

I have a 3" SP101 that I sent off to Marc at Gemini Customs some years back to work his magic. It's a peach, especially with 148gr DEWC hardcasts loaded slightly sub-sonic.
My latest purchase is the Ruger LCP Max. I added a green laser and it rides in my pocket most days now.

I have grown cold on .357, too loud and unless shooting a heavy gun, recoil gets old fast. Maybe I am getting soft in old age? My first pistol was a Smith 66. I am much happier with extended sessions of 9mm, .45, or .38 Special.

Don't forget the .40 Mac! Between my Glock 23 and my USP .40, I shot 200 rounds Saturday. I feel I'm enjoying shooting the .40 S&W more these days than ever regardless of what the FBI says!

Tell ya what benben my man, this pistol is really fun to shoot. The compensator does help. There's less muzzle flip than on my 1911. Very fun. (.45 auto )

Anyone in the market for a holster be sure to check out Pure Kustom. So far, this is the best holster I've ever owned. Leather with the strength of Kydex. Rocky calls it Cowdex. He sells primarily to the 2011 & 1911 crowd such as Staccato, Atlas, Bul, etc...but, can make one for about any model I believe.
They are both owb and iwb, adjustable as well.
Anyways, just thought I would share.

That's the beauty of these wheel guns that can shoot both...range with .38, carry .357 and if/when the time comes to actually use those .357s I'm betting your mind will be on other things besides recoil and loudness.

There's nothing better imo, than shooting .38 wadcutters. So soft, the holes in the target so neat.
That's the beauty of these wheel guns that can shoot both...range with .38, carry .357 and if/when the time comes to actually use those .357s I'm betting your mind will be on other things besides recoil and loudness.

Yep, no one ever has ever complained about recoil or noise in a terrible, scary situation where they had to use a firearm! I work in a large collision center, an air bag sounds like a shotgun when it deploys, I've never talked to a customer who has said they heard it during their collision, too many other "things" going through their mind! Same principle here!

As a hunter I have shot many deer without ear plugs in. I have never noticed the recoil or noise from a high powered rifle in that situation and have never even noticed my ears ringing. That isn’t even a life or death situation. When your brain flips into another mode all those things go away. In a self defense situation I doubt that I could tell the difference between a .38 special and a .357 mag.

The only concern I would consider is accuracy with follow up shots. I'm no Jerry Miculek, so getting all rounds on target with a high recoil gun might be a reasonable concern.

The higher the pressure, the more damage is done. This happens wether or not you actually "hear it" happening. Your brain drops certain sensory inputs in times of stress, but that in no way means your body is impervious to the damage just because your brain pushed it from your consciousness.

I’m not denying the damage, just saying that you won’t notice it.
I always wear ear protection when target shooting but never have while hunting. After 30 years of hunting my hearing test still shows no loss and I don’t have tinnitus. I can still hear a mosquito fart at 80 paces.

@MacLaren, not quite the group or pattern as your new 1911, this was my first 10 rounds fired Saturday at 10 yards with my HK P2000sk compact. I started to pack up and leave, figured it was all downhill after this! Amazing little pistol!
