How about a Lava light?
What do you think about seeing the CLB Lava revisited as a lightweight? Perhaps linerless g-10 and wire clip? It's a great little design that deserves another go IMO.
So many knives, so few pockets... :)

Re: How about a Lava light?
I had to look up the Lava...neat little knife. Definitely seems suited to a lightweight version.

To be honest, I really liked all of Chad's designs when they came out. What was that, like 2014? I still like his designs.
I'd definitely buy a Lava Lightweight!

Re: How about a Lava light?
I finally found a blue one for a good deal. Definitely could use a lightweight version, but I’d keep both.
Rex 45 G10/LW sprint would be excellent!

I have the lava sprint. It’s a very nice piece. Easy to carry and quite capable.

I would be all over this. DFly is my favorite Spydie and that size is what I gravitate towards. Lava SS is a dinosaur, and the G10 is overbuilt. FRN would be a grail for the lava

I guess it dates me but I thought it was a misplaced thread about lava lamps. :D :D

Re: How about a Lava light?
I didn't buy a Spyderco between my Delica I got in 1997 and the Lava. The Lava inspired a three year binge on thousands of dollars of Spydercos until I decided that I needed to pay for my habit by designing my own. Lavas are dangerous, and make me think of KaliGMan.
If you ask me, it has a strong flavor of Sal to the ergos. The pinch is pure Caly.
It's great up or down.
I would lightweight orange hap one or two. If they end up on clearance, I will end up with a block that I make money on later.

Re: How about a Lava light?
I briefly owned one in stainless steel. If they're brought back in something other than VG-10, I'd be quite interested!

Re: How about a Lava light?
Just remember that the only way FRN "lightweight" versions are cheaper to produce is if you're making thousands of them. That works for the PM3, not so much for the Lava.
A G-10 Sprint run allows small batches to be made without sinking too much into making molds.

Re: How about a Lava light?
2008 in stainless, 2013 in blue G-10.
2008 was about the time I started collecting knives again when I got out of University. The Lava was one of the first I bought. I missed the Sprint run because I got married in 2013. Now I have two kids and another on the way... Time flies, but I guess I'm ready for another Lava sprint!

That's exactly why I suggested a linerless g-10 version, not FRN.JacksonKnives wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2020 11:54 pmJust remember that the only way FRN "lightweight" versions are cheaper to produce is if you're making thousands of them. That works for the PM3, not so much for the Lava.
