I do like LC200N's combination of corrosion resistance, edge retention, and ease of sharpening.

Hi Ugaarguy,
The store didn't get its pieces. We made lotsa them and it's a standard in the line design. A design that I have been impressed with and had me rethinking the concept that new is better? This design is a basic "stick handle" and simple blade........but it's EDC performance is surprising. It's the very small refinements that have evolved the design, that heralds it's EDC tool.
I spend many hours in the "design" dept. and I carefully study each and every feature of a desoign. The Chockwe/Watu has been an education on design.

Re: Watu...AKA Lil Chokwe
Sal, thanks to toocool006 giving me a friendly heads up in this thread, I saw that the SFO got some in, and I have one on the way. Getting a thin 20CV blade with Spyderco's heat treat, plus a comp lock and a wire clip, were enough to make this my most wanted knife of the recent reveals. Now I'm looking forward to the education of using this refined stick handle once it arrives. Thanks for taking the time to emphasize the finer points on the designs you produce.sal wrote: ↑Thu Apr 16, 2020 10:16 pmHi Ugaarguy,

Hi Ugaarguy,
Look closely. I think you will enjoy using the design.

Yea, but I have the Lil' Native and a Seecamp on my radar too. Can't afford them all! v.v
After seeing a video on this one, though, it looks like a fantastoc carry piece... I'm dying inside! Haha
Nice work, sal(as usual).

Hi Sal,
In this video, when Michael closes the Watu it reminds me of my first gen Kapara (not free-dropping). Does the Watu have the same type of pivot as the revised (CQI) Kapara pivot?
Thanks,
John

Re: Watu...AKA Lil Chokwe
Does that really make or break a knife purchase? Action is not a priority
Chances are you just need to tinker with the pivot anyways.
Soooo many people skip great designs, mostly backlocks just because their not super fidgety. A real shame.

Re: Watu...AKA Lil Chokwe
One of the great things about the compression lock is the ability to open the blade by pressing on the lock when the blade is facing down. Of course, that same thing goes for closing, too.
On the first Kaparas, while a lovely knife they didn’t have this attribute. Still a nice lock, but it loses two great functions of Sal’s lock.
So if I could pick, I’d want one with those extra two characteristics.

Heard from Robert at nationalknives earlier today, and he said the one he played around with was a “drop free” blade.
So, yay.
Ordered!

Re: Watu...AKA Lil Chokwe
I got mine today. Definitely a free dropper! Mine has a touch of lock stick, but I’m sure it’ll work itself out. I haven’t been this excited about a new knife in a while. I actually like this so much more in hand than from the pics. Perfect size, love the cf/g10 scales. The lack of jimping on this knife is such a nice bonus for me. Sharp as a whip too. Action is smooth. Absolutely disappears in the pocket. Physically and visually. And the holes in the scale make it super easy to draw from that deep pocket carry too. Shot in the pocket:
