I won a Dyad Jr. years ago in the calendar contest, but never carried it. Suddenly, I can’t get it out of my pocket. I love it. I love knives that grow on me like this.

Anyway, now I want a large Dyad and of course they’re discontinued. Anyone else like a certain knife too late?

Hi Jazz,

Interesting turn of events. We have a design for a large Dyad, double compression locks in G-10 & stainless, but we shelved it due to lack of interest and high price. It has two large opening holes, which do compromise ergos, which forumites complained about. but I'd rather have them than not. So we tabled the project.

I'd be up for a new Dyad for sure! :)

I wish there'd be a full sized Dyad with the Micro Dyad flair...
Bolsters and bone/pearl/wood/shell/etc. inlays would look great on a larger scale.
Would probably bump up the MSRP considerably which could reduce the amount of potential buyers though;
thus making it very unlikely in this day and age for such a knife to come into fruition

That sounds like a fascinating design - maybe a lightweight version would be more feasible?

Hi Curly,

(I had a favorite uncle named Curly).

It's a healthy investment to make molds for a light weight of questionable success. But the majority of the high cost is in making two blades.

Terzuola Double Bevel. Man I want to own one. It is just a cool little knife. I've messed around with one before. Something about that knife stuck with me.

That is amazing news! Thank you so much considering it! :D
I had it in mind as a knife that would lend itself well to a more detailed grip by using the spine as a thumb rest as well as a regular grip.
Other than that, it would allow for a sideways grip because I noticed that's how I hold a knife very often for opening boxes, packages, etc.
I've got several small variations to the design in mind to suit different overall sizes, so if there's anything you'd like to know, please tell me! :)

I don't find the ergos bad on the wee one - haven't handled a large one. Sounds interesting, even though I strongly prefer back locks. I'd rather have the holes than not, also.

I LOVE my Dyad Sprint! I would kill for a double compression version in LC200N

I found the ergonomics to be completely acceptable. It is far better than it could've been, which I imagine wasn't an easy task.

(I've got some drafts of an LBK version and a slim flipper version)

I always envisioned something like the Nilakka but with two blades. A design without thumb ramps where the blades close all the way into the handle but have cutouts in the handle for thumb hole access. It doesn't have to be exactly like a Nilakka but a simple handle shape with a blade shape that closes into the handle would solve the ergonomics issue.

I think people need to understand that they're basically buying two knives in this situation and the cost may reflect that.

Tell you what. Send me that proto and after a few days of use far away from the ocean I'll tell you what I think. I'll give you my credit card number as collateral. I'm into 2 bladed knives and while I'm not even close to the most knowledgeable person here, I can offer a unique perspective.
