Why no raisin M&M’s....

Advanced apologies. But it is really slow at work today. And I’ve seen topics here way more out there than this one

I am wondering, why are there no raisin m&m’s? They have everything else. Peanut. Caramel. Mint. Coconut. Coffee beans..etc. Why no raisin? Is there anyone else that would like/buy raisin m&m’s?

Also, what else could be covered in chocolate and coated in a candy shell? Almond m&m’s? Macadamias? Heck, I would even try cricket m&m’s.

They could put a mini m&m inside a regular m&m...

I suspect it might have something to do with the moisture content of the raisins that prevent it.

M&M chocolate truffles...because you can't get enough chocolate :) Crunchy outside with that smooth, rich center.

Simple, they don't sell as well comparatively speaking.

Chocolate covered Oreo Cookies are the bomb! Especially the holiday ones sprinkled with crushed peppermint candy sold by Trader Joes.

Actually that’s a great idea! Double crunchy. I bet they would sell very well. They put Reese’s pieces into peanut butter cups already, and they seem to sell.

I too thought of the moisture content. But like DSH007 says. Raisinets exist. So it’s gotta be something else.

What about CornNut m&m’s?

I guess I'd have to try it but it doesn't sound appealing. I do like raisinets. I do like M&ms too. Just not sure about crunchy candy coated raisins with the M&M chocolate.

Called m&m/mars inc. Apparently this has been a requested flavor many many times. But there is no answer to why not. They also don’t take suggestions for new flavors. Their marketing department handles everything. So I guess we just have to settle for the new “hazelnut spread” m&m’s for now. Yuk.

Hershey's Pieces are way better. (They used to make M&M's for Mars). The chocolate is far better.

Aha- but consider: You can't sugar coat and chocolate coat at the same time- and they require different temperatures
Making Raisnets is a 2 step process (Choc coating then dry)

Applying chocolate then pan-coating in the hard shell would have to be a 4 step process (Choc coat, dry, sugar coat, dry)
(Thank you Discovery's Food Factory for this one!)

Taking a rasinette and sugar coating the outer chocolate means heating it up again.

Now, Chocolate doesn't like being partially heated. I have a feeling that attempting it leads to some product degradation- either the chocolate going 'grainy' or the moisture in the raisin.

Food science. :D

Ahaha, I love the effort!

I tried the hazelnut m&ms on a whim a few weeks ago.. I agree, they are garbage haha. If they had just actual hazelnuts and chocolate in them, similar to the peanut or almond m&ms, I think they would be excellent.. but as they are, the hazelnut "spread" is too sicky-sweet for my liking.

Totally on-board for your corn nut m&ms btw.. chocolate, salty, crunchy combo sounds great!

1 I'm with Doc: Marshmallow version.

2 What about marshmallow Oreo cookies? Yes or No?

3 Would you eat M and Ms mixed into your favorite and appropriate flavored ice cream?

Yes! It was a while back though.. If I'm remembering correctly.. too much pretzel, not enough salt or chocolate.. I do remember not being impressed haha :(
