Re: s90v SHAMAN IS OUT
It’ll be mine. Oh yes.
I remember the first time I saw the Shaman. It was the first time I met Sal, he drew the knife from his pocket and handed it to me and I was blown away. The handles were made from carbon fiber and it was just awesome. I don’t recall what blade steel it had but I knew then and there that the design was a winner. Sal had said at the time that he wasn’t sure what materials would be chosen for the initial release of the knife but that he was hoping for S90V and CF. I think it was a smart decision to do the standard production model with S30V and G10 but I always looked forward to the Sprint version. It’s been encouraging over the years to see him mention S90V and CF and now it’s here. Very cool to see a knife start as a proto and eventually become a product I can buy.

Re: s90v SHAMAN IS OUT
So I guess this would be sort of a large "version" of the Native 5 Carbon Fiber S90V? I am receiving one of these in the next couple of days.
Models: Para 3; Native 5; Dragonfly; Chaparral Locks: Back, Compression & Frame
Re: s90v SHAMAN IS OUT
One European dealer did have the CF Shaman in stock already some days ago (alongside with the Endela), but it was sold out mighty fast (meanwhile the PE Endela is also, just not the SE).
So better be quick if you see it in stock somewhere and want one...

Re: s90v SHAMAN IS OUT
sal, is there any danger of the carbon fiber delaminating or not really? And would you ever consider making a "Shaman LightWeight" with FRN? Is that ever potentially in the works?

This.
Even though I'm a huge carbon fiber fan I think I'll be passing on this version. One, because I have no need for it and I'm trying to cut down on my knife buying, and two the price.......

I want it but I have too many irons in the fire right now. Hopefully it will hang around for a while. :)

Hi SEF,
No on the CF and possible on FRN, depending on demand.

Re: s90v SHAMAN IS OUT
Where can I buy this is my only question.
On my radar: 110V Military, Police 4 and some sweet Rex 45 Military action.
Newest Spydies: S90v Ti Military, Pacific Salt and a special Kiwi.

A Shaman LW with a wire clip and flat, squared, FRN similar to the Native LW? Count me in! This might be a good opportunity to try a "straight to CPM-CRUWEAR" production model with a nice new color of FRN/FRCP and a DLC version and a stonewash version. Then follow up with a blacked out LC200N Salt variation! I like this idea!

Re: s90v SHAMAN IS OUT
Hello Sal, as I am relatively new to sharpening, I'd like to ask you about the way you sharpen and maintain the edge of your S90V knives, as it looks like it's one of your favorite steels. I see there are many different approaches to sharpening high-carbide steels like S90V and I'm curious to know yours - especially with a Sharpmaker, as that's what I have (with diamond and UF rods).
Thanks
Re: s90v SHAMAN IS OUT
An FRN Shaman LW would be great! Maybe even with thinner (3mm instead of 3.7mm) bladestock. Since the current, thicker Shaman-blade slices very well already (due to it's hight), a 3mm version would make for an incredible slicing geometry while still being strong enough imho...sal wrote: ↑Fri May 17, 2019 7:23 amSpyderEdgeForever wrote: ↑Fri May 17, 2019 2:43 amsal, is there any danger of the carbon fiber delaminating or not really? Re: s90v SHAMAN IS OUT
I’m not Sal...but let me suggest it’s quite a jump from diamond to UF. You might consider the intermediate brown and white rods. Those two are actually all you need with S90V unless you’re trying to set a new bevel.Volk wrote: ↑Fri May 17, 2019 9:06 am

Re: s90v SHAMAN IS OUT
You can do what i did and do a pre-pay pre order at bento box shop. That way its yours when it comes in.
Don’t let these guys and girls fool you, everybody makes up a reason not to like it or not to buy it and it still sells out in minutes.
