So as it turns out, my belated Father’s Day gift adorned in wenge wood pattern, matches almost perfectly with the bocote wood I recovered my knife in just the day before! The knife was also a gift from my wife and kids, Xmas I believe.

That Bocote is beautiful wood. I want a GEC #38 in Bocote. Nice knife you have.

These are my 3 latest traditional knives, a GEC 06 with blue jigged bone, a GEC 29 in acrylic, and a Queen Heritage Jack with wood covers.
All of these are excellent in terms of craftsmanship and they all slice things up very well.

Just picked up a GEC 29 in bloodwood. Gotta love an awl, so handy!
Anyways, this one’s special for a reason other than being a great knife. You see it has the cloud shield, GEC is calling it a keyhole shield but I’ve always called it and seen it called a cloud. The cloud is of significance because we always said our sweet old girl Lily was so soft it was like petting a cloud. We had to put her down just two days before this arrived in the mail.

I grew up from when I was born until I was 25 with my parents always having Golden retrievers (3 of them) they are hands down my favorite dogs ever. I feel your pain and miss all 3 of mine as well.
In high school in 2000, I actually won a scholastic award for photo I took of my Golden "Goldie" the one I grew up with. She made it in our yearbook that year as well. It's a beautiful photo...not to toot my own horn. Will have to find it and take a photo of it.

They're supposed to be worth the money though he has soured people. I think warranty issues but I'm not sure and shouldn't say anything.

Love it, it’s a nice hefty traditional. Really digging the Sucker Rod wood. Nice pull and snap close.

Cool. I considered the sucker rod wood too, but the Micarta should pair well with my Shaman. :cool:

The Oil Field Jack landed yesterday. It is really nice. This is my first and only GEC. I am not too into traditionals, but have been waiting for a GEC that suited my taste and this one is it. I don't think this bug bit me as hard as the :spyder:, so doubtful i will buy many more, except maybe as gifts. I grew up in small town PA, so the manufacture resonates with me. If you haven't seen the factory tour videos on YT, they are worth a watch. This is the first part of three if you are interested.

Me too Enactive! I don't have any GEC's yet, but a small collection of Case. My sons and I get up to the Case Museum at least once a year. I've been meaning to go to the GEC plant.
