I have a few knives ahead of this one (Yo2, Shaman exclusives) but I'm exited to pick one of these up eventually. Can't wait for some sprints/exclusives.

This is one where I'd definitely want it in SE and a good steel top go with that. For PE I'd want a delica

VG-10 is a good steel for SE, that can be ground full flat. SE and FFG is a great combo, IMO. I’m thinking a Caribbean, with FFG LC200N, may be the ultimate in Spyder serrations, but at a much higher price.

Would you get the Endura Wharncliffe or the Chaparral FRN if you had to choose?

I'd get the Endura, because, while the Chaparral is a great knife, in one of my favorite steels (CTS-XHP), the blade is just too short for many of the things I use a pocket knife for.

I would totally second that, but in another thread ( viewtopic.php?f=2&t=83071&start=20) SEF stated, that he already has a (regular) Endura. (Just) in THAT case I'd choose the Chap.
If I could only have one knife and the choices were Chap and Endura (wharncliff), I'd choose the latter for the longer edge, despite I really like the Chap.
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

VG-10 is excellent for SE.

You do NOT want something like Maxamet or s110v, or anything super high hardness in a SE blade.

I know everyone likes to use the sharpmaker (as instructed by spyderco) to sharpen their SE knives, but you can only sharpen them properly (keeping the initial factory grind) with a small cone shaped sharpening rod OR with cylindrical sharpening rods that perfectly fit the serrations. The PROPER sharpening process can be quite tedious. And given the extremely high performance of low wear resistance steels on serrated edges, it's not worth using high wear resistance steels for SE blades. Sharpening would take far too long and you wouldn't see much difference in performance.

SHARPENABILITY IS KEY for SE blades.

Just got mine. I'm really liking it. The extra blade heighth makes it look and feel “beefier” than the standard Endura.

Blade height is underrated in the online knife community. I always imagine 1/4 inch missing from any knife's edge before I buy it, because there's always the possibility that I'll keep the knife for several years (possibly as an edc).

Think about a Benchmade 940 after 100 (or so) sharpenings. Not only would it look like a folding toothpick, but the geometry would be horrible for cutting.

Tall FFG (or high Sabre grind) blades allow you to fall in love with a particular knife knowing you won't have to part with it a few years down the road. It's like the life expectancy of your favorite dog to me. I'd want it to be longer, ideally.

How does it carry? It looks like a lot of knife in the pocket: Very wide, and due to the deep carry clip you attached there will be even more if it actually inside the pocket?

EDIT: But let me add: It sure looks very nice and I am thinking of getting a Wharnie Endura someday too.

Let me put it is way, you probably don’t want to carry the knife and an iPhone 7S in the same pocket of your jeans. :D
