Re: Warehouse knife
You'll get used to it immediately. There's really no learning curve to it. Just take it with you and use it.

Re: Warehouse knife
Closing our shouldn't be a problem. If it doesn't fall shut when you close it, maybe try a thin lubricant and apply it to the pivot and maybe lock
Re: Warehouse knife
I've found that all 3 of my Manix's broke in very easily. I believe I ever so slightly tweaked the pivot screw on 2 of them to loosen it up a bit. You picked a great knife! Gets the job done and also fun to play with while you have some downtime at work.

Re: Warehouse knife
it seems that each manix is a little different from another in this area. like others have said, it shouldn’t be difficult to get past the initial break-in period. honestly, for me, it was more about getting used to the mechanism and strengthening my fingers to pull back on the cbbl. it’s really no big deal though. you definitely made a great choice. as i said in my initial post here, the manix 2 lw is my favorite knife (not just spyderco). it’s a work of art.
keep your knife sharp and your focus sharper.

Re: Warehouse knife
I have a Manix 2 next to me as I am typing this. I don't think I ever try to close it one handed. If I do need to, I release the lock and then push it against my leg to close it -- which is safe and sensible and maybe the thing to do if you are on a ladder or something when one hand is occupied and you want to close the knife and put it in your pocket. If you just want to fool around with it, you may be able to get the blade to fall closed, but that never mattered to me and still doesn't. And just to sort of grind an axe. I am all about how easy it is to open a knife. And even more, how well the knife performs when open. Closing it means the job is done and I have all the time in the world. I'll draw the analogy of a firearm. It can be really important to get it into action quickly and even more important what goes on when it is in action, but when the shooting is over, nobody is in a big lather about getting it into the holster in a rush.
Re: Warehouse knife
You are absolutely right when you say, that fast and easy opening is more important than fast closing. And your closing-method sure is a good one!Tucson Tom wrote: ↑Sun Mar 10, 2019 11:43 pmI have a Manix 2 next to me as I am typing this. I don't think I ever try to close it one handed. I just wanted to add, for the OP seems to be quite new to knives (and locks): To get the blade fall closed of course is not the only way to close a bbl knife one handed. You can easily give the blade a little "inward flick" towards the handle while the lock is released, and engage the lock again as soon as the blade is inside the handle. That's actually a quite safe method with a bbl, for different to a back lock, your fingers are never in the path of the blade.
Actually, that's one of the things I like in the bbl lock. Works like a BM axxis-lock in that capacity, but imho has more detent and does not tend to open in the pocket unnoticed, which can happen with an axxis-lock (downside: The bbl requires a little stronger fingers).

Re: Warehouse knife
Tucson Tom, if you/we further want to discuss locks or the like, maybe we should start a new, dedicated thread... I have the feeling, many want that "warehouse-thread" to end...

Re: Warehouse knife
The Manix is super easy to close one handed.

That's how I've always done it.

I think you made the right choice Cao87. Let us know what you think of it once you get it in hand and start using it.

Re: Warehouse knife
I just got it my skin on my thumb is a bit sore from closing it because it is stiff
But I like how light It is. I’ll wait to bring it to work once it lossens up and I get used to it

Re: Warehouse knife
So you already got it! Great! I am sure you'll get used to it very soon. I'd also suggest: Bring it to work from the very beginning and get used to it THERE!
