What Spyderco do I have?

A friend gave me a NIB Spyderco yesterday that is not in the catalog, evidently discontinued. It is a small knife with a blade about two and a half inches long, Micarta body. The blade is marked "Horn" and Aus-8. What do I have here?

Welcome to the Spyderco forum! Sounds to me like a C34, Jess Horn II. It has the hole in the blade, right? The original Jess Horn I believe had a jigged bone handle and a trapezoidal indentation milled in the blade instead of the hole. The Micarta and the AUS-8 steel sound like the Jess Horn II.

Welcome to the <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> Forum.

If you knife looks like the one below it is the Jess Horn II. It also came in white and burgundy Micarta and a SS version. There was also a 3/4 size version of this knife in Micarta and SS. Most of the variations were (I think) exclusive to A.G. Russell.

Hope this helps!

First of all, thanks for all the good replies. The picture posted by 4 s ter fits the bill except I have a plain edge version. I believe that my brother-in-law who gave it to me picked it up at the Spyderco Outlet in Colorado. It is a little small for my EDC (I lean toward Endura, Benchmade 806D2, etc) but it is a nice piece for the collection.

Welcome to the Spyderco Forum bindlestiff!

All versions other than the black Micarta and lightweight handled ones were exclusives for A.G. Russell. Interesting that there are still some of these around. We discontinued them 5-6 years ago. Great find!
