Another Rit Dye?
Another Rit Dye?
Got a M390 Para 3 comming in soon.
Not big on the Smurf Blue.
Has anyone Rit dyed that color to a GREEN? If so, how did it turn out.(thinking emerald or dark green)???
Looking forward to the M390, I have only one in this steel and I love it. :D

It IS a lighter blue, so I think you might have good luck with that. Please let us know how it turns out (include pictures). Maybe use a light green? I just imagine too dark of a color (blue or green) and you’re going to get a relatively dark color.
Also, congratulations on that purchase! I got mine a few weeks back, but happen to enjoy the blue.

I wouldn't buy your dye yet. I wasn't sure I'd like the blue either. Now that I have one I think it's great. Then again...I'm a fan of blue.
Of all the things I've lost I miss my mind the most!
Re: Another Rit Dye?
No exaggeration, it is the best shade of blue I could personally imagine.

Re: Another Rit Dye?
You will only be able to go to darker colors with RIT dyeing that blue G10, so darker blues, browns or black will be most likely all you can achieve. I don’t think you’ll be able to shift that blue to a darker green that’s truly “green” - it’ll most likely be brownish. I’ve even tried to dye their light gray G10 dark green and it came out a weird teal color that I didn’t care for, and redid the scales in black finally.

You maybe able to sell them or trade for Jade ones. I wonder if you could get green if you just dyed it yellow. I wish there was an easy way to test it before going all out. If you color comes out bad you can always call it something like blurple and just pretend it's blue

Re: Another Rit Dye?
Thanks for the knowledge, I sure don't want a weird color, so guess I'll go with a darker blue, which may look like black. :)
I find myself usually carrying black or green G10 and not much else.

Get some colored nylon zip ties for testing. They should give you a close idea anyway and zip ties are always useful when you're done
Re: Another Rit Dye?
I didn't think I would care much for the bright blue scales when I bought the knife. After using it for a bit, it darkens up with grit sort of like the gray sb caly. It is a lot less obnoxious after some use. I can try and take a pic of mine in the morning when I have some light.
Re: Another Rit Dye?
Hey, good idea with the zip ties.
Yes I will carry it a bit before I decide to do anything.
Now, the wait....

Re: Another Rit Dye?
There is something about the beauty of M390 fit and finish that is tremendously complemented by the blue, I don't know if I can explain it, but they are quite stunning together.
Re: Another Rit Dye?
I'm getting ready to rit dye a Para 3 CPM M4 in forest green.
Can you find it and can it cut?
