MOT : Which flashlight is your EDC?

#1

Post by AllenETreat »

To : ALL

Before you egg me for being "OT" ( thats

NOT "Over Time" either! ) I'd like to know

what flashlight you carry either in pocket,

on tool/duty belt, or, like I used to, in the

glovebox of my car ( when I drove ). Now back

to using the "shoeleather express" I carry :

The Photon II microlight on a keychain

( I have it in turquoise ; it's brighter than

blue & green and offers better visibility than the red.)

What say the augerers?

Hey Allen!

My EDCs are tiny. I carry a red Photon II on the key ring and a Pacific white LED keychain separately for cleanroom and lite light work. The Surefire P6 is at the ready in the house and a 3D Cell Mag does van guard duty.

Looking at buying the Innova XT 5 LED soon and slipping her into the rotation.

Never thought of EDC-ing a flashlight, fortunately, I see pretty well in the dark
Besides, the only flashlight I have is a big and bulky one, I keep it for power break-downs.

Had been carrying a MiniMag 2AA until last night. Went to change batts, and found out why they say not to use recharge. Corrosion foced me to use pliers to open, and I have to clean it today...

Buying an Inova X5MT at month end. Only 70CAN, expresspost from BC.

Had a pelican 2AAA but it broke and the place I bought it from talked me out of sending it in for warranty(could not put up with their ignorance/arrogance anymore)
Got a Princeton Tec(similar to a Photon)for christmas and has been on my keyring since. Don't know how I went with out a light for so long, really handy to have. I have four maglights ranging from 2AA to 5D. Would like to get a Surefire in the future just have not decided on a model. Something smallish around the equivalent of a 2AA mag.

I've got a white Photon II that has been on my keyring forever. I keep an Inova XT in my backpack. When I walk or ride at night I take a red Photon 3(for the flash modes). I also have a pair of LED headlights that see alot of use;a Petzl Zipka for around the house(cause it's quick to put on) and a Princeton Tec Aurora for outside(cause it's got a stronger strap and is waterproof). I've got about a million other LED lights, but these are the ones that see all the use. Haven't used a MiniMag in years except for the Newbeam converted on. Once you've gotten used to the pure white of LEDs,incandescents can't compete. I've even swapped most of my lightbulbs for those compact spiral florescents.

I like the standard 2AA Minimag, often with a red filter to protect my night vision. Works like a charm!

i found a small (3"x2&quot flashlight at Dick's sporting goods, they are about $12 and they are SUPER bright, white light, almost surefire bright, they only weigh about 4 ounces and have a twist on/off switch at the rear. 2 AA batts, they also sell one by the same maker (?) thats about 6" long and i believe holds 4 AA. great quality and brightness for the money !

I occasionally carry my white Arc AAA w/green GlowRing on separate keyring for non-work EDC, and my red Photon II on my regular keychain.

I'm not really set on my work EDC light yet, looking into getting another E2e-HA.

Photon II (blue light) always in the "watch pocket" of my Levis (along with a SOG CrossCut), and (when needed) a Streamlight Scorpion in my back pocket.
