This was posted and yoinked pretty quickly from the spyderco facebook groups.

Hopefully this means production is nearing completion and they ship out soon ;)

I can't wait! Pre-ordered mine and talked a few buddies into pre-orders as well.

Color looks more of a salmon than burnt orange to me. Could possibly just be the camera/background/lighting though.

Sweet! Really looking forward to trying out this steel. I'd be pretty happy if the PM2 drops first, but I'm in for the Military as well.

I didn’t preorder. I’m hoping to snag one when they start to drop.

Holding out for the Military, as I have plenty of PM2s. Unless I can't hold out :(...

I would love to try this one out, but I think I'm going to hold out for a Native 5 or something.

Or more likely your monitor...

It looks like a burnt-ish orange on my Mac.

Could be my eyes as well. Getting older along with a lot of people I know ;)

I did a comparison for myself against the mid-year picture and hap40 run:

I am likely still in for my PM2 preorder no matter what the color ends up. Just hoping its a little deeper orange like in the catalog. Reminds me of autumn.

The color in the pic is way off from what's shown in the Mid-Year catalog and the dealer sites. Let's hope that's not the actual color of the production models.

I hope it's not that washed out looking orange. But if it is, I'm sure they'll be easy to pick up brand new in the box for slightly cheaper prices. Some people are really hung up on the color of their knives.

The steel is obviously the main attraction but who wants a knife that has scales with a color they dislike? I've seen where you've stated your dislike for black handles. I don't really mind black (although I don't want more) but I certainly wouldn't want the washed out orange in that pic. I'm not even sure what color rit dye I could use to make something decent. I guess I could always buy some of the Micarta scales I've wanted.

I totally have my color preferences. If it was up to me pretty much every knife would be green. I didn’t mean that comment too seriously. I meant it lighthearted and enthusiastically. :) I guess it didn’t come across that way. I’m just excited for this one and don’t care what color it is. (as long as it isn’t black) ;)

I am certainly hoping as many people are happy with the color as possible.

I think that pic looks like it is washed out due to poor lighting? I also cannot help but notice that the screws all look a little proud? Strange pic.

Exactly.... they could make it in seafoam green and I'd still have preordered one. Keep getting emails weekly from KC that my order is still in process.

Im starting to see how one gets into collecting these. Why not make them more collectable by serializing them?

If you're in the Collectors Club you get a number on the blade. I don't like the extra writting on the blade personally, think it's kind of ugly. I have some Emersons that are numbered, but really unless it's one of the first 10 made, it doesn't add much value.
I like having a red one, green one, a dlc coated one, s110v, vg10, h1, hap40, etc. but it's for my own enjoyment, and love of variety, more than the collectable value. I collect different steels to use em, and different colors to match my outfits :D ;) Like a fine watch, these are functional precision tools. They look good but they are made to be used (imo).

That being said there's nothing wrong with just collecting them and keeping them in mint condition. I don't have any I haven't used a little, but some like the 40th Anniversary definitely get handled with care, and kept in as pristine condition as possible. Beats collecting Hummels.
