My 1st Spyderco arrived today!

#1

Post by Mtnhiker18 »

Hello!

So last Monday morning I woke up at 3am and felt awake. I picked up my phone out of habit and while launching safari I thought I need an EDC knife. Ive owned four knives in the past but gifted them to friends and family so Id have a reason to buy a new one. Win win right? :)

Out of those four I really liked the SOG Vulcan and was on amazons checkout screen with that blade in my cart when I was like well...lets see whats new at BladeHQ. After looking for about 30min I came across the Yojimbo 2, then seen a cf version of it and was sold.

It arrived today and when I flipped it open I said "wow!"
Its the sharpest blade Ive ever used. Id bet its razor sharp. The cf looks awesome, the balance is good, the centering of the blade is perfect (and on and on).
Im so thrilled to own this blade and highly doubt ill be gifting it. :)

Heres some pics

Hi Mtnhiker,

Welcome to our forum.

Good choice. You will find few blades designed or made as well.

Sweet blade haha. Does anyone think that the CF on this model is the same stock as the “peel-ply” material, only without the textured surface? It sure looks a lot like the underside of the peel-ply scales.

I was just going to ask the same question. It doesn’t look like peel ply CF in this picture. Almost looks smooth to me? Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks Sal, I cant seem to put it down longer than 10min.

Im not sure if the cf stock is the same as the cf peel ply stock but it is a smooth surface. If I have to use it with sweaty hands or in the rain Ill be using a lot of caution.

Pretty sure that's exactly what it is, same CF but different surface finish. You could sand and polish peel ply and get the same look as this knife.

Mtnhiker18, aesthetically the knife is amazing, fit and finish top notch. The chosen blade steel CPM 20CV is quite remarkable as well. That is a fine knife indeed.

Great choice for your first Spyderco. The question now is, what’s going to be #2?

Welcome!
