Yes, the Pac Salt 1's have the barrel style two position clip, and yes, those dye jobs look great.

Had some time this weekend. Used Ritdye more Sapphire blue. Results as follows. Everything blurple. Picture is a Manix 2 15v once tan. The pm3 was a maxamet grey. Sv110 Manix 2 and DLT Cruwear Pm2 included for color comparison. Pm2 dlc tanto was once jade scales and dyed daffodil yellow. Gb2 scales do take dye as well, also daffodil yellow.😁

Navy blue rit dye, maybe 15 second dunk. I like the yellow but carrying daily needed something a little less conspicuous.

Tonight was my first ever try with Rit dye. I had a Native 5 Salt wearing a set of white scales from the Rex 45 Sprint that I wanted to try Sand Stone Rit on. While I had that cooked up I had a Teal S30V Dragonfly that I thought I'd try out, too. I'd hoped for an FDE similar to the Inherent Resolve and Iraqi Freedom model Natives.

Native soaked for 2.5 minutes and Dragonfly was somewhere in the 10-15 minute range.

I tried dying dark blue G10 black with no success. The Rit Dye didn't hold on the G10 material. Is there some trick to this?

Yes, I have found FRN can be done with steaming hot water. I have a instant hot water faucet I installed at my kitchen sink. I have died all of my FRN with it. It is steaming hot, but not nescessarily boiling. It did not work on G10. For G10, I had to heat up a pot on the stove to boiling. Let it boil for a few minutes then add the scales.

I cleaned up the scales with some Dawn. They are so light colored when clean. Suprisingly, it took away all the character. I figured something would be left, but I would say they are lighter than when new out of the box.

Image

I was inspired by some of RC Bladeworks Scales. I wanted to see if I could get somewhere close to that look. I figured if I butchered it, I could always go darker.

I like them. I actually really like the darker color. I may use that color for some G10 in the future.

JSumm that is an amazing looking knife! I’d say you were well compensated for your Ava’s losing their character!

Love seeing these pics, thanks all.

I have a mint green Manix coming, bought despite of the color. Never dyed scales before much less on a knife I can’t disassemble. Any pointers on how to dry it after dying to avoid corrosion? Or am I overthinking this? Thanks.

The white FRN Native 5 LW is still available from GPKnives for a redicoulsly low price. I can attest it soaks up dye like crazy.
