I got the plain old S30V Native 5 LW. Wouldn't have been my first choice, but I have never owned S30V before since I tend to go for extremes like Cruwear/3V/4V for toughness, Maxamet/S110V for edge-holding, H1/LC200N for stainlessness. This will be my chance to give it the old college-try and see what it can do.

Interesting that you got the new s30v version instead of the old s35vn version... Figured those would still be hanging around awhile

You weren't the only one who was surprised! Do you see S30V on here anywhere???
What Are the Odds of an Upgrade?
Fifty percent of those who join are guaranteed to receive a Spyderco Native 5 with FRN handle, but thirty-five percent will be lucky winners of an upgrade. For the sake of surprise, and to protect our members' privacy, we do not announce the winners publicly. Upgrades will be assigned to orders by means of a random number generator in the following proportions:
50%: Spyderco Native 5 with black FRN Handle + S35VN blade ($144.95 retail value)
25%: Spyderco Native 5 with blue FRN handle + S110V blade (189.95 retail value)
15%: Spyderco Native 5 with black G-10 Handle + S35VN blade ($224.95 retail value)
5%: Spyderco Native 5 with grey FRN handle + Maxamet blade ($239.95 retail value)
3%: Spyderco Native 5 with dark blue G-10 handle + S110V blade ($254.95 retail value)
2%: Spyderco Native 5 with fluted titanium handle + S35VN blade ($419.95 retail value)

Spyderco announced natives were switching to s30v and I guess massdrop didn't update their listing or chose not to bc their shipment was mixed with both s35vn and s30v? Also g10 natives are switching to linerless g10 except s110v model something about how they machine that model?

Gotcha. Thanks for the info. Yeah, I was actually cool with S35VN because I wanted to try it, and I was planning on maybe grabbing a Lil' Native in S30V since that is the only option for that knife for the foreseeable future. Now I guess I'll wait on the Lil' Native and hope for a Sprint (CRUWEAR!...sorry ugaarguy if you are watching!) and try to find an older S35VN Native in G10 with the liners before they all are replaced with linerless.

Still waiting for mine to be delivered...slightly disappointed to hear the steel is not what was advertised as far as the standard ones go.

Mines in the mail still, at 2.224lbs I’m quite curious to know what’s in there..
Pretty disappointing that massdrop didn’t update the listing as I bought this to try spydercos s35vn but judging by the weight of the parcel I do t think I can be too disappointed

It’s also partially Spyderco’s fault for making this a rolling change and not a configuration change. No doubt it’s simpler for both Spyderco and retailers, but it does result in ambiguity from a customer standpoint. Just because he got S30V doesn’t mean some won’t get S35VN.

I got the S30V Native5. I've been wanting any style of Native5 so I'm satisfied, but the Blue Box for Spydercos are the only kind of gambling I participate in.
The last Blue Box I got upgraded from a standard Dragonfly to a Salt which was perfect for me.

Chances are you will not be able to tell a difference between s35 and s30.

I think that S30v is some great steel. I have had it in other knives and I really liked it. Hold an edge and is pretty easy to sharpen.

Nice! Congrats! I just bought the Maxamet Native last week. It is an awesome knife! The stonewash finish is perfect.

I got an S30 V linerless G 10, and no extras. Nice knife with a decent price. I was hoping for titanium or Maxamet.

Looks like I’ll be waiting until Sat or so. But at 0.5 lbs shipping weight, I’m not holding my breath for any extras. A fun gamble, nonetheless.

Mine was only .3 and I got an upgrade. I think the extras only go out with the base purchase knives.

I got the plain old native LW. I will keep it of course because I not one to complain, but just a little angry about the S30v steel. I love my PM2 S35vn so much I bought a second to keep as a spare and if I don't lose mine the NIB one will be passed on to my son. I want a Native Salt but when the blue box came up I joined it because it advertised the S35vn so I figured I had nothing to lose and at worse snag one of the remaining S35vn Native 5's. Then I ended up with a S30v..... If they would have advertised S30v I would have passed and preordered the Native 5 Salt I really want.

I got the Blurple Native. I like it, but probably won't keep it cuz I really was hoping for the Maxamet, and I already have an S90V smooth G10 Native.

@0.5lbs, I'd guess you got a small upgrade, like a travel case or DF2, but I can't be sure.

I'm guessing you got the Sharpmaker, or that weight is the result of international packaging and maybe a smaller upgrade.

I got the standard S30V FRN and an H1 Dragonfly Hawkbill which is weird since it was not even listed as a possibility.
