Tatonka discontinued
Tatonka discontinued
Saw at the end of the spyderbyte that the Tatonka has been discontinued.
Anyone have one? Do you love it?
So long and farewell to the rarely talked about and often joke punchline giant of the spyderco lineup.

Re: Tatonka discontinued
Oh wow. We've probably seen the last of it I'd say, with some of the larger models coming available later this year.
Re: Tatonka discontinued
Noticed this in the Byte as well. I'm almost tempted to search for one, to have before they're gone for good.
I know I wouldn't carry it much, but as Spydercos largest folder, I want it for the collection!

I liked the idea, I liked the lock, I just didn't like the design.

Re: Tatonka discontinued
I was thinking of watching to see if anyone discounts them.
I have long looked at them, but I can't ever really see myself carrying it in preference to a Police 4 (or Military, actually). If I need a big, burly knife like that, I almost always just go to a fixed blade.

I've never been interested in having a folding pocket sword. But for those that are, several dealers still have them in stock.
Of all the things I've lost I miss my mind the most!
Re: Tatonka discontinued
I got mine mainly because it introduced the Power Lock. And what a piece of sculpted VG10! But at this size, a fixed blade just serves me better.
I also got the Tatanka because I imagined it, along with the Native and long-rumored Chief, as a gesture to acknowledge America's first people and their descendants. With the arrival of Shaman and the Lil Natives, and the imminence of the Chief, I think I'll hold onto the Tatanka for the "complete set".

If the price gets slashed on this one I will have a hard time resisting.

Re: Tatonka discontinued
The Byte says that Spyderco has no inventory of the Tatanka. So I wouldn't expect any discounts.bearfacedkiller wrote: ↑Sat Jun 02, 2018 11:25 amIf the price gets slashed on this one I will have a hard time resisting.

Re: Tatonka discontinued
This would make a great candidate for a regrind, though I haven't seen one in the wild.
