Whew! I thought you were cutting through a concrete beam.

Removing a vanity mirror and had to cut through latex caulk, someone thought was necessary, between the edge of the mirror and wall.

The Manix2 Cruwear made short work of it.

I've never personally seen the show but I've heard that the Wizard from Deadliest Catch was another converted yard oiler.

It is certainly a shame we don't still have the 20 millimeters but they'd likely be misused...

I watched it for a bit…

Some gardening. Ants did a number on a small ginkgo tree. All the leaves died so i cut the dead little branches away. I even needed to clean its roots and give it fresh earth.

Next chapter in my back yard fence brush clearing battle. It's amazing how fast stuff grows back in just a week. I use whatever knife I'm carrying (and my Vic Spirit saw for larger stuff) and I usually come home from work and go straight to it so I'm in my work clothes which means the Autonomy gets a lot of work unless I need to test something. It gets stabbed into the ground a lot making flush cuts which is worse on an edge than you'd believe. I love so much that I can just rinse it out when I'm done and touch up the edge and it's good to go.






This big sucker, which I believe is a very mature kudzu vine, was a real PITA to cut but it did slice through in one hard pull cut.

I don't know of anyone else who uses an auto as hard as you. Does your Autonomy show any sign of wear/play in the lock and other contact points?

I have a Kershaw Auto that I like, but I have reservations about using it with much force.

I have a Kershaw Auto that I like, but I have reservations about using it with much force.

I am not at all gentle with this knife, I've used it every bit as hard as I've used my Caribbean. It doesn't show any signs of blade play or lock rock type issues. If anything the lock and pivot are more solid than just about any other folder I have because you can sorta over tighten the pivot slightly more than you would a manual opener and the spring is still plenty strong enough to snap it open. The Plunge Lock works similarly to a liner lock except instead of a liner wedging against the tang you have the plunger pressing into a notch on the tang and then the blade wedges against the stop pin. My favorite part of it is how the fire button is also the unlock button, so the operation is very easy to get used to and aside from needing to press the blade closed it's very much a one handed folder for me.

Sounds impressive. The Autonomy will be on my radar in the future.

Same for me, but I sometimes use an axe for the leg sized stuff that's deeper, and some of the bigger (tree) root balls.
And I've been using (and carrying) my grey handled Endura 4 for all that stuff (and more), for the past few months (I don't own any autos).
As you might imagine, after hundreds of times of being used to cut into dirt, sand, etc... my Endura is SUPER drop-shutty, lol, like it's on sheets of flowing air - and that's with the pivot tightened down pretty tight.

The big roots I've "done battle" with have been Wisteria (a lot of those), and Sweet Gum.

I have a rain water catch bucket that I just slosh it around in to rinse it out. Sometimes that's not enough, and I have to use some compressed air from my little HF air compressor to blow it out, and then another quick slosh rinse. Always good to go after that though, and I've had and been using the knife for many, many years now...

I made a couple of raised garden beds yesterday! The Byrd Hawkbill is the right tool for the job of opening bags of soil. Best budget knife I have purchased in a long time!

Got all the mulching done today. Time to treat the wife and myself to a 150 little necks. I love being on vacation from work!

I released the last Pygmy rattlesnake that fell into the pool. I guess it all depends on your situation.
