I just cut a kid's shoe off of his foot. My son and his friend were riding bikes when the kid's shoelaces got caught in the bike pedal. Each turn of the pedal tightened the laces. Happened too quickly to stop the situation before it was too late. The laces were so tangled and tight that the only option was to cut. I felt bad for the kid, you could tell it hurt and the ankle was already starting to swell because the circulation to the foot was getting cut off. The trusty SE Endela cut like a hot razor through soft butter, and the slight dip in the tip made the close work less stressful.
I read that beginning part too fast and thought it said “I cut off a kids foot” 😆

Glad you were able to assess and act quickly.

Sometimes we don't appreciate the finer design details until we find ourselves in a situation to appreciate them - as in the dropped tip above. Makes it all the more sweet once we do figure it out.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

2 day old Shaman used it to open a can. Black S30V steel so aluminum transfer on sides of blades and edge had chips in it. Took it to get sharpened this morning and hit a 51 on the Bess Test.

My little brother moved the past weekend.
Feel free to guess, how many had a knife in the pocket.
Yes, out of five people, I was the only one.

This is another reason I keep a beater (or 3) in the truck... for a loaner for someone who might hurt themselves or my knife if I hand it to them.

Good idea, but he already got bike parts. I know, those aren't helpful in the household but I just can't help me, I just really like bikes, even more than knives, I have to admit. You might be able to understand this, since you got yourself a nice MTB not so long ago :winking-tongue

My SE UKPK LC200N has been used by the others. The Manix 2 in CPM15V was just for me. And there still were people, that have been surprised, that a serrated knife can be sharp.

My wife's center console door got stuck. I suspected something fell down into the pocket the sliding door goes into. Turns out I was right, but to access it and remove it, I had to first get out the little shelf sitting over the larger storage area.

Looks like this.

I could not get the drawer out, but I did have my K390 SE Endela. I would have never thought to do this with a plain edge, but I was able to barely fit the knife in the tight space. I have heard of people cutting through a 5 gallon bucket with serrated edge and figured this plastic was similar in material and thickness. I used it to saw through the hard plastic with the serrated edge. Enough to sneak the drawer out in a couple of pieces. Edge was fine afterwords.

I also have a SE K390 blade waiting on its chance to shine.
Where did you find the Micarta scales for the Endela?

Definitely the biggest reason my knife budget has shrunk lately.
