Thanks to Ohio MBC/CBC Graduates

#1

Post by Michael Janich »

I'd like to thank everyone who participated in the MBC Level 1 and 2 and CBC classes this past weekend. I truly appreciate your interest, dedication, and hard work and had a great time training with you. Even though my trip was delayed a week, we had excellent participation and covered a huge amount of material in a very short time.

Thanks also to kydex guru Mike Sastre and custom knifemaker Mickey Yurco for joining in the training and for helping round out the presentation with their insights into defensive knives and carry systems. (Mike Sastre was also kind enough to work with me on a deep concealment rig I designed for the Ronin. I am currently test driving it and will provide more details later).

Most of all, thanks to Dave Holloway and Elaine Hardesty for their hospitality and hard work in organizing the event. It's folks like you that make the MBC program a success.

Again, thanks to everyone. I had a blast and look forward to Levels 3 and 4 in August (and maybe another Level 1 and 2 class even sooner).

Stay safe,

Glad to hear everything went well, I didn't doubt it would. I'm bummed I couldn't make it to the rescheduled weekend. Looking forward to attending a L1/L2/CBC weekend, glad to hear there might be one coming soon. And again in August sounds cool.

Glad you got to hook up with Mike and Mickey, both are top shelf people.

Looking forward to be able to train with you and Mr. Holloway in the future.

Take care,
Tom

This was a great oppurtunity to train with Mike Janich in Grove City.It was a 3 hour drive instead of a 5 state trek to Colorado.
The MBC class is well structured .Each block of instruction builds on the other. The curriculum can be retained even if the student does not have a Martial art backround. It is adaptible to Civilians,Martial Artists,Law Enforcement and related Rescue personnel.
A few states ,like Ohio , still do not have a Handgun Concealed Carry statute in place. The Pocket Folder is the next logical choice.Ethical and Legal issues are also discussed in this class.
The techniques in this system are designed to end a confrontation quickly in a life or death assault, not to "Kill" your assailant. There are no "B.S." moves or self defense"Tricks" in this course.Mike Janich went to great lengths to explain the reasoning and theory behind every part of this program. The Knife techs were the same movements that could be transferred to empty hand or stick applications (Commonality of Technique).
Host Dave Holloway has an energetic and helpful following of Martial Arts students. He took care of the small details like Hotel accomidations and driving directions.
If you like Knives, and are interested in Self defense, you owe it to yourself and your family to attend an MBC class.

I don't think I could describe it any better than Mick did! This is no nonsense, court- defensible, self-defense training with your carry folder. Movements are based on natural reactions, with body structure (not muscle mass) adding strength to the defensive motions. As Mickey stated, all the techniques build on each other in a logical manner, and integrate with the movements used for Counter Blade Craft with empty hands. Outstanding training!! If you can't make it to Spyderco's facility in Golden, CO, Grove City Karate (Columbus, OH), is a lot more convenient for those of us in the eastern U.S.
