Is Stretch out? :eek:toxophilus wrote: ↑Thu Dec 13, 2018 11:43 am
Both the Stretch V-Toku 2 and the Superblue Calypso Jr have been used for the past couple of weeks and neither have been oiled; just washed off/wiped dry.
I haven't noticed any rust, the Stretch developed a blue-ish patina after cutting meat with it; not so much when exposing it to onions & garlic whereas the Calypso Jr does what it naturally does :spyder:

Re: VTOKU Sprint Run
I got some ketchup on my dragonfly! Worked pretty well after a couple hours. Would it get darker if I re-applied a little bit thicker, and left it on longer?
Re: VTOKU Sprint Run
I put mustard on it next, going for a ballpark frank type of look I tried spicy mustard first with no luck. Then I tried French’s yellow and got black spots on the bevel within half an hour. At that point I remembered reading about corrosion acceleration on freshly exposed steel, and quickly wiped it down. Looks like the bevel got most of the corrosion (since the mustard wasn’t on too long). I re-sharpened and I’m ready to try again with the bevel protected this time.
Re: VTOKU Sprint Run
I was able to get some cool looking blues and purples after cutting some strawberries.
Re: VTOKU Sprint Run
Thanks for the tip!
I left yellow mustard on for about 2 hours today. I kept it off of the bevel this time. It turned blue, and looks great now, but it’s also very light. I’ll have to try strawberries if it doesn’t hold. I’m going for a dark gray-blue-black
Re: VTOKU Sprint Run
I’ve found if you keep cutting strawberries and other fruits it will turn to a darker gray. This is one of the faster steels to patina. Have fun!

Re: VTOKU Sprint Run
Was there ever an official reply to the "scribble" issue with the Seki imprint on the Delicas?

I have a stretch on the way.
Re: VTOKU Sprint Run
I don’t recall any, but my Endura superblue has it too. Quite strange
