or something else completely? got a $125 Amazon gift card for my birthday and would like to use it towards a spydie. real familiar with Amazon and their mystery box of will this knife be used, fake, or different model but if I buy a prime eligible knife any fug up can be returned. appreciate your suggestions as always

I'd go with the Maxamet Native but it's all personal preference as you know. I'm sure the Manix back lock is a great choice too.

If it were me, I would get the Manix backlock, but only because I already have two Maxamet Natives. You still have the (un?)enviable problem of deciding between the two. :)

I would go with the Maxamet Native, especially if you don't have that steel. I'm holding out for a sprint for the Manix BL

All questions of steel and scale material apart, the Native is obviously shorter than the Manix; further, the Manix 2 Backlock has a wider handle than even the standard Manix - so it all boils down to what use you destine your knife, how you intend to carry it and whether the additional girth of the Backlock would be acceptable to you.

Choosing a knife is a personal thing. I suppose the decision can be swayed by having a discussion such as this. Obviously, you want both, and both appeal to you one some level.

Due to size difference, my primary justification would be based on use. Which one would I use more; which would get more pocket time; which of the two sizes is less represented in my collection? In my case, that would be the Manix.

Yeah, but the Native is such a great little knife - I have two. It is light, yet built robust. It is somewhat unusual, as it completely lack thumb ramp. Working in office, probably my most carried knife.

If you don't have a Native LW yet, get the Maxamet (my favorite N5 user to date). If you do already have a LW, get the M2 Backlock (one of my favorite around the house project knives).

If you're feeling crazy, go K390 Police4 (cause **** that knife is awesome)!
