52100

I have been loving my 52100 millie and it only gets better with time. This has probably been asked but has the PM2 version been confirmed by Sal or anyone with Spyderco? I really hope so. It has to be one of my favorite steels, in part because I can keep it sharp even with my lousy sharpening skills.

I'm carrying mine today. This stuff takes an edge better than anything I've ever sharpened. I'd rather see it in a Manix 2 than a Para 2 though, but really my most wished for knife would be the Nilakka. That blade would be perfect for this steel.

Not sure if it's been confirmed but I'm in they come to be. Carry my Military daily and agree its a great steel, gets wicked sharp and such a lite piece to carry, here's mine after using almost daily since they dropped.

Can we get a para 3?
I can't carry the larger knives as much and would really like to try this steel. Another option would be a 52100 ukpk.

I also like my Mule team with 52100 and am happy with the performance and characteristics of this "old" steel.

Wasn't there also the promise from Spyderco to offer us 52100 in UKPN-version? I hope this is not from the table and still in production schedule ...

I always enjoy 52100 knives and I'm up for whatever and whenever we finally get this one. It will be nice. I'm also hoping for future Super blue plans too. The extra bite the tungsten gives and wear resistance increases is there but it really doesn't seem to be enough to harm the edge stability and push cutting abilities the way too many carbides will. There are a bunch of other Japanese steels it would be great to try too. YSS has several in their catalog though I have no idea how difficult it would be to get them in real life. Carbon tungsten steel alloys ( like Superblue) hit a sweet spot for me.

Don't have any 52100 yet. Would like some. Understand PM2 sprint is coming. Would take it in a Manix2.

This is such a fun steel to work with. I'm not a great sharpener, but I can get this really sharp. I really like how quickly it develops a patina too.

Aye, I love my 52100 Millie. I can't believe how well it holds up - takes only a few seconds of work to keep the edge surprisingly sharp. I don't even record what angle I do the micro at, I just eyeball it and it's back to shaving individual hairs in no time. I suspect you could sharpen this on a cement block without too much trouble lol! And the handle is excellent. The CF looks great and inspite of how light it is, it feels solid in the hand.

If it is coming in a PM2 sprint, I'll buy 2 at least. How fast 52100 is prone to rust spotting and the need of attentive maintenance is why I think we don't see it on a lot of production knives - a lot of guys tend to buy only 1 or 2 knives and use that knife for years with little maintenance other than basic sharpening. I mean, forcing a patina is almost required on the millie one.

I'd like to see a CF or G-10 Manix 2 in 52100.
K-390 on hand: Mule Team 17, Police 4 G-10, Endela (burlap micarta), Endela backup, Endura (canvas micarta), Straight Stretch (now blade-swapped with G-10 Stretch), Delica Wharncliffe, Dragonfly Wharncliffe, & Dragonfly Wharncliffe shorty mod

Well, I am on the opposite spectrum I guess. Yes, I love the look of the knife and ease of sharpening is cool, but never carry it because can't stand rust spots and as humid as it is here I know it will get some. Been mulling selling it lately. Or just trade for S110. I don't think tool steels are for me. Have had mine from day one and have done zilch with it out of fear of corrosion.

But I love love love those handle. Sooo light yet strong.

I am with you. Carried mine for months. Loved how sharp it got, but the rust at the end of the day drove me crazy. I gave mine away.

Now carrying a S90V Military and much happier.

None really. It's pretty much old school carbon steel if I'm not mistaken. It will take a really fine edge. Closest would be the non-stainless varieties like m4, cruwear, hap40, etc. but even those are pretty high carbide steels and a bit different. But I'm no expert.

I like the Military! I recently removed the patina to start fresh. No rust issues but I keep it dry and oiled.

I would like to see a Manix 2 to match, even though I don't have a military. I'm a sucker for carbon fiber and I would enjoy a new blade steel.
