Hi Sal, please DO NOT FORGET EUROPE for the best Sprint Runs

Sorry to bother you Sal, but as you know well it's very difficult here to have Sprint runs directly from U.S.A.
For example now I NEED ... :D a
Para3 in Cruwear and it's a real pain. Lamnia has it in his catalogue but yet not delivered and they said me cannot be sure to have them, so PLEASE SHIP A BUNCH OF THEM OVER THE PONDS!!! :D
I've already won the run for a MeerKat HAP-40 and 2 Urban K390, now I have to have a Para3 Cruwear!

:spyder: :spyder: :spyder: We need high end steels :spyder: :spyder: :spyder:
In conclusion...yes that'it... I kindly ask for more Sprint runs to European trusted sellers, so to have them the easiest way.
Thanks so much and keep up the super-good work
Sincerely :spyder:

Would be great if they could set up a european SFO even if they just sold sprints, mules, forum knives and maybe exclusives that we can't get over here.

YES ! For us europeans is a PITA to purchase a sought after sprint run spydie, not to mention an exclusive one

We pay a premium price anyway so....

It takes usually a few weeks to even 2 months for us living in Europe to get sprints. So don't worry, they are coming :)

Hi Jumpin'Spyder,
Thanx much for the input. Europe comes with it's own set of challenges; Each country has different laws, VAT taxes really affect prices, and most are handled by a distributor, that may not want to deal with the low quantities of Sprints.
I'll bring this up with the Sales Manager and Export lead. We're always pen to suggestions on ways to improve our distribution in Europe.

THANKS Sal!!!
The more I know Spyderco the more I love your way to do business with love not only in manufacturing great products, but for customers too...and doing so, customers will come back with the same things you put into. Reading this Forum is the best answer to this.
BTW you've said it, exactly as is now in Europe: I'm sure you'll fix it :D
Good luck to you...and to us European and really thanks for the love you put in your work, in each and every aspect of it :spyder: :spyder: :spyder:

Excellently expressed Jumpin'. I think that there are a lot of folks here who would agree.

This subject pops up every now and then, the complaints and answers are always the same.
It puzzles me how Italy made knives often cost the double in Europe than in the US, like any other Spyderco knife.
As an engineer and businessman this really gives me an itch, I need numbers to analyze this situation as it doesn't make sense in my mind.
For example, a knife that I really want to have now, the Salt 2 black blade:
From the US to my door (Portugal) - 61€
From France to my door - 104€
From a brick and mortar shop - 120€
My big question is: who is the EU importer? I'm in Hungary right now and a brick and mortar shop told me I'd need to wait 4 to 5 weeks for an Aqua Salt and 1 week for a Salt 2 (because that one was already on the way). This is longer than buying directly from the US! And in the end it costs the double!
I'm missing something, I'd like to know what it is...

Hi sal, I tried to contact you about this subject a while ago but couldn't get an answer. I'm willing to start a business importing Spyderco knives into the EU if we could get around what is causing these price tags. VAT doesn't explain these prices, nor I feel acceptable to wait 5 weeks for a knife to travel inside the EU. Poland has 23% VAT which is higher than France (20%) and Germany (19%) but has better prices on some Spydercos, France has good prices on others, but Germany (with the smallest VAT) has always high prices.
For those that don't know, there is a common market inside the EU, which means I can put a knife in the mail in any EU country and ship it to any other EU country without any additional taxes or paperwork. There are EU countries with low VAT and low import taxes that are often used for these kind of import/export businesses, it takes more knowledge than I have right now to optimize a distributor on a large scale, but even on a small scale of 1 knife only the numbers baffle me.

Thanks jdw, I appreciate and I'm glad to have expressed what is IMHO a common feeling for the Spyderco way of being :spyder: :spyder: :spyder:

Hi Tonijedi,
I did get your email and it has been an ongoing discussion within our sales department. We too are still looking for the cause of the problems in price and delivery overseas.
Each country has a distributor for Spyderco products. We had a meeting at the SHOT show with a number of our overseas distributors, and it was fruitful in that we better understand some of the problems. As yet only some smaller solutions are in effect.
This thread will be shared with and studied by our sales team. So all thoughts shared are valuable.

Have about 100 Spydies and have bought most from the US (and sometimes in the US when I was there), most that I bought here in the Netherlands where secundary market.
Would love to be able to buy Spydies here in Europe for reasonable prices!

I'm pleased, relieved and impressed that Sal & Spyderco are looking at this issue.
Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if sales of new Spydies have virtually ceased in the U.K. after recent price explosions.

I, too, appreciate the efforts already taken, and all that will still be made. Let's hope for visible results!

We pay about 2x what Americans pay and vat is "only" around 20-25% depending which socialist anthill we live in over here in the EU. So where does the other 75% go? Enquiring minds want to know
Lamnia is a really good shop with good service but we are paying list for most everything and many spydercos are never in stock

Most Spyderco knives I purchase over the internet directly from the US. From reputable dealers, also on Ebay. I understand Dutch knife-sellers need to make a living but if I can get my Spyders (sometimes much) cheaper directly from the US I get them there. I am a middle man with a normal income and I am simply not willing to pay European prices in the Netherlands.
