Military in S30V?

#1

Post by connor »

Hello *@*,

short question: Any updates on the availability of Spyderco Militaries in S30V steel? Sal said they would be available approximately, well, now. :-)

BTW, are there any other changes to the Military planned in the near future?

You should always tack a 2 or 3 month fudge factor onto Sal's estimates. <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Say it isn't so. I've got a hundred bucks eatin' a hole in the wife's purse. :-) Hehehehe......

I'll be buying one when it comes out, without a doubt.

I was told by Jonnie at Knives Plus, that the Military in S30V would more than likely be a rolling change. Meaning that to purchase the S30V, you might have to wait until all of the 440V's are gone.

The switch from 440V to S30V has taken place. Manufacturing is making them now but concurently producing other models too so don't look for great numbers immediately. We're playing catch up on backorders as well so.....thanks for your patience.

More often than not, true. Sal has been on the road non-stop since January, before the SHOT Show (first SHOT, next IWA after that OKCA). He regrets he's not been able to log on but will as soon as he can.

A great weekend to all of you.

Wunderbar,
That's exactly what I heard (from a distributor) that the dealers are waiting to sell their stock before buying the new supplies. I was looking for the Native CE in S30V. I'll get it, all in good time.

@ Joyce Laituri

Do you have any idea when you will be through the backorders for the Militaries?

I would *love* to order one from Linda 'Glasshartt' but even she doesn't know when her backorders will be processed. Maybe you should priorize the forum dealers a bit! ;-)

I don't know why you people are so excited about S30V, in my opinion it is a down-grade from 440V,440V has more vanadium than S30V and holds an edge longer, the fact that it may be a little more brittle does not bother me when its being used on folders,a fixed blade is another story, the fact that it is cheaper and easier to machine than 440V is why the companys are going to it.S30V should be better than 154CM,ATS34,BG42ect.Crucible's best stainless is S90V which no production company has used yet, because of high costs,S60V or as it used to be called CPM440V should not be dismissed.
