Complete list of Sal Glesser designs

#1

Post by Surfingringo »

This topic came up in another thread and I thought it deserved a new title. I was hoping to compile a list of all the models that Sal himself designed. I have long noticed that Sal's designs tend to become my favorite users but I bet there are several that he designed that I'm not aware of. Hopefully some of the old timers and Spyderco afis will jump in and help complete the list.

I'll start the list with two of the most obvious and let you guys add on.

1. Military
2. Stretch

Sal it would be great to hear from you. I bet there's a few that will surprise us.

Wow, that's gonna be some list..
I believe Delica/Endura/Harpy/Hunter/Stretch/Dragonfly are also some of his greats.

I think the simplest thing would be to list all Spyderco designs ever, then remove the ones that weren't designed by Sal. :p

Select the "more results" link under the first 10... it annoyingly only lists 10 at a time.

I'd say that Sal likes designing knives--and has worked hard to get to a point in life where he can do things he enjoys. :)

Another interesting thread--ask people to list their favorite Sal design.

I think mine is the Dragonfly, with the Chaparral a close second.

FWIW, I'm fairly certain Sal once stated that at least some of the designs not directly attributed to him, Eric, or a collaborating knife maker were the result of a team effort.

The Spyderco Assist is one that might not immediately come to mind. It features Sal's maker's mark in a small circle on the lower rear portion of the handle scales.

The Roadie and the Karahawk also feature his maker's mark on the blades.

All of my favorite designs are Sal designs. There may be only one exception and I am waiting on it to arrive.
