Ti Squeek / gritty Ti knives from Fox Italy

I just caved and grabbed a Titanium Squeek before they're all gone... figured that Ti and Elmax don't come that cheap and the Squeek Sprint (especially at sale prices) is a great way to get that combo. I have to say that in-hand the Squeek looks much better proportioned than it does in pictures, this is a good thing, since to my eye it looks quite awkward in product pics.
I'm not going to abandon my larger slipits, but the Squeek definitely has a place in the rotation from now on!
The second part of this post has to do with the fact that all three of the titanium scale Spydercos I own which were made in Italy (Ti Squeek and 2x Ti Pingo) have had polishing compound, or some other fine grit substance packed in around the heads of the screws and pillars, it was only in the pivot area on one of the Pingos, the other two had clean pivots. So the question is; do other titanium knives from Fox have this issue? It seems like they need to either do a full clean/degrease after final buffing, or leave final assemble until after the scales are in final polish.
Not a big deal for me, as I work in a jewelry store and have access to an ultrasonic cleaner, but most folks would have to do a complete teardown to get all of the black grit out of the screw recesses.

I've wanted a squeak, but could never pull the trigger. I like titanium and all, but I'm not a fan of smooth metal scales.

My Ti Pingo is a little gritty at the initial few degrees when closing the knife. I might give it a clean too. Loving this knife for those moments when you might not be around knife people. So non-threatening. For this strange handleshape its comfortable for my hands. Haven't used it enough to talk about the steel but for the few fruits and things I've cut, it performed great.

Neither my Ti Squeak nor my Ti Pingo were gritty at all.

I thought the Ti Squeak was made in the USA, as per the website? The Pingo was made in Italy.

Fox of Italy makes superb exquisite knives. The Spyderco based ones are very excellent.

I agree that the knives themselves are of excellent construction and finish, but they really need to sort out the final step before boxing the knives... polishing abrasive left on/in the knife is lame, especially on premium knives like the Ti Sprints.

That is what I thought, originally, but the website says USA for the Ti Squeak. It must be a typo. What does the blade say?

The website says USA, as can be seen here. But, the knife says Italy. Not having the knife, I could not check this. Thanks.

Italy!

This pic points out one of my favorite details on the K390 Urban; notice how the heel of the blade has curvature all the way to the ricasso, I'm going to have to go back and re-work the edges on my Squeek and BB Urban to replicate that!

FYI, JD has just made a nice comparaison and review about the Squeaks here:
