Just a simple thanks

#1

Post by Chopps »

Long time lurker, first time posting. Just wanted to give a huge thanks for all the knowledge I've acquired here. From sharpening ideas to micro bevels and patinas. Thank you guys. Though I don't currently have a spiderco (lack of funding lol) I do hope to pretty soon. Attaching a few photos of applying my knowledge from y'all.

The first attempt was chemically treated then flame tempered. Second attempt on the new one came out way better using only flames and oil/acetone quenching.

Welcome aboard, Chopps. Nice tech to have you here. This is a great place indeed to hang out and talk about knives! :) Nice work on your Carson flippers, btw.

Just pulled the trigger on purchasing a Mamba. Hopefully it's a legit one as the seller seems reputable on eBay, but the cost was "only" $220. Fingers crossed. If it turns out to be a fake, I will certainly report.

Very fast shipping from seller. I can't really authenticate the Knife as it came with no tags or papers. However, the fit and finish is absolutely perfect as well as the blade perfectly centered and extremely sharp. Judging by the f&f and heft, I can 85% determine it's real. Anyone know any tell tale signs to look for?

Update; upon further inspection(i. e. Taking it apart) I can undoubtedly conclude this is a genuine Mamba. I don't really understand all the negative reviews saying it's too big for EDC or the unsharpened area at the choil is a deal breaker. I plan to grind that part of the blade to complete the edge though. I will be EDC this one for the time being just to see. This is a beautiful knife with a nice heft to it. No complaints for my first Spyderco.
