Discussion re: this JUNCTION (pics)

This forum never lets me down... but I've been a little surprised by the lack of attention given to the new Gayle Bradley collaboration, the Junction. It caught my attention right away: thinner blade stock & shorter length, vs. my beloved Southfork… it seemed like a perfect backpacking blade to me. And mine just arrived! It’s a solid “exceeds expectations” so far… pics are below. (Forgive me, fruit was harmed and consumed in the making of these pics.) I can’t call this a review, but here are some observations so far:
• The blade leaves your hand at a slight downward angle – love it. (I hadn’t caught that in the pictures…)
• As you can see, the handle is thin & flat… and nothing can compare (in my view) to the comfort of the Southard’s grip. But the Junction works great in my medium-sized hands, and the grip is surprising versatile (feels good in most all positions, for me). The ‘swell’ near the butt of the handle adds some comfort and security, too.
• The choil feels well-defined, frankly I’m a little more comfortable choking up on it than on the Sprig.
• I don’t have calipers, but it feels relatively thin behind the edge – I’d guess somewhere slightly thicker than the Sprig, but thinner than the Southfork. (Blade stock is thinner on the Junction than on both the other knives, though – and so far it delivers on my “should be an excellent slicer” prediction.)
• My sheath has zero issues – no rattle, perfect.
This Junction will defintely see plenty of camp and backpack time this year! I’m often around my son’s boy scout troop, so having something a little smaller than the Southfork and a little less stabby-looking than the Sprig is a perfect fit. Who else is psyched on this one?
