Modest proposal: Lum Tanto with HAP40 C46GBORE

There seems to be high demand for additional models made with HAP40, and there have been repeated discussions about a new run of the Lum tanto folder.

My modest proposal is to put those two items together and bring out a new sprint. Decisions would need to be made on slab or laminate steel, and what color G10.

So is there interest? And what would you like in terms of color and steel lamination?

I would buy one. Solid HAP 40 or even Super Blue. NO laminate please. The dark gray (same as current release PM2 w/Cruwear) or a burgundy G10.

I love the idea. I would prefer a sprint run with burgundy because I
hate burnt orange and love HAP40. Super Blue is preferable with
darker gray scales. Love the FRN.

I love hap40 (one of my favorite edc steels) and the Lum Tanto has always looked interesting to me so I'd probably buy one. That said, I think I would rather have the knife in 3v.

What is 3v and would it translate to a light weight carry? I know that
I am in the minority on the board but I hate G10.

Hey jdw, 3v is a steel with pretty high impact toughness. I don't imagine I would be going around stabbing my Lum Tanto into 55 gallon drums but given the blade shape and grind that's probably the type of steel I would choose for it.

Would love a chance to get a Lum Tanto now, as it was discontinued long before I even knew about Spyderco, but really like the looks of it. :spyder:
I wouldn't even really mind whatever steel were used, but I've been really happy with Hap40 so far!

yes - I'm one of those who has been asking. Hap40 is good, more 3v is great or cruwear!
g10, not metal scales

Yes, that would be a good handle choice IMO.

This helps to visualize what a burgundy g10 knife would look similar to (in a folder of course). I think the knife in the image has micarta scales.

I'd love to see another run of this, especially in a Hap40 iteration.

I'd like to see the Lum Tanto folder return but with a compression lock like the pm2. Steel choice doesn't bother me so much, I'd be good with vg-10 to keep the cost down.

Just running a one off knife like the Lum Tanto is difficult because it's not a production knife, whereas I imagine making a pm2 in different steel isn't too terrible, it's just a change of material, heat treat, etc.

The more I think about this one though, the more I realize how bad I want it. I think this would be an instant sell out of 1200 pc run. It would really be a one off example. Maybe to make it easier on Seki's production schedule and factory, they could plan a couple runs... Superblue, HAP40, maybe something else too?
