Question for Sal/Taz - 2016 Coin Status?

Here I am, bumping another thread. I'm reading in the 2017 product guide that a 2017 coin is planned, but it seems we've skipped 2016. Some of us collectors with OCD are gonna have a hard time with that :(

So for those of us that are avid coin collectors, or avid Spyderco memorabilia collectors or even just brand new and looking for a way to memorialize our new addiction: I don't want to sound anything other than excited. I loved the 2015 Challenge Coin that Sal presented to us, and bought several. They are beautiful, and truly unique among my other challenge coins from various past adventures.

Sal, any word or plans for the 2016 coin? I'd love for this wonderful idea to continue and fully support it! :spyder:

Absolutely! I meant to create a thread the other day asking this exact question. I love this idea and have been really enjoying my 2015 coin.

Love my 2015 coins, would love seeing a 2016 one soon! Maybe a hexagonal coin :D There's a lot of cool things you could do with that shape...

Maybe they should make it another yearly contest!

This crossed my mind as well when I saw the 2017 coin. Have they done these before 2015? Wonder why 2016 wasn't included.

There have been some coins in the past that were special for specific groups or VIPs, but as far as coins available to any Spyderco fan I believe 2015 was the first. It sounded like the plan was to make it an annual thing.

The 2016 coin was the same as the 2015 coin (military / Law enforcement). The maker is late in getting them to us. The 2017 coin is the same, but larger. I didn't want to disco the "cop" coin so we just continued it. We give out quite a few.

We do have a new coin designed, but haven't made it yet. May also make it as a 2017 coin along with the "cop" coin.

Thoughts?

So Sal does that mean we can order the 2016 coins from the SFO right now?

You can order them, but they aren't in yet.

I might add that we include one of the Law Enforcement / Military coin is also sent to the troops in the Middle East with the Natives we send each month.

When the 2017 LEO / Military coins come in, we're begin the 2nd coin, which will be different, but will also be a 2017 coin.

Found this thread searching for "Spyderco coin".. So - there will be no 2016 coin? (Labeled 2016)

Was wondering the same thing again recently. I've seen the 2017 LEO/Military coins in stock at a few retailers now.
