Hey all I have a question regarding carring my 4" endura in WA. Our state defines a knife that is 3" or larger is a "dangours weapon". Now I also have a CWP and routenly carry a glock 17 as well. Does my permit cover the knife? Is enforcement that strict? Does anyone have any first hand experence in this state with conceled carry of a larger knife.

Is your permit for concealed weapons or a concealed handgun?? I would call the state Attorney General or check with AKTI.

I have lived in Washington for a while . The only restriction i know of is that a folder must not excede 3.5 inches in length inside of the city of Seatle. Your ccw licence does not allow you to carry a fixed blade concealed however,blade length is not restricted for folders.It's quite amazing how I can carry a firearm cotaining up to 17 rounds of ammo but,cannot carry a small fixed blade knife!

Matt. States are individual in their "weapons" laws. They are also different from major urban areas to rural. It becomes even more difficult when you ask, because you might get different answers from different people (all of whom you would think would know).

Beware "draconian" lawmakers ! In our State
( Connecticut ) the "rule-of-thumb" is that
the blade cannot be longer than four fingers
together ( 3" or less ). I own a "Cricket"
which more than satisfies this criteriae, and
as the blade is below 2" ( 1 3/4" ) it is NOT
considered even a weapon ! Your permit to
carry a firearm does NOT allow you to carry
a knife as well ; you might try to obtain a
"Dangerous Weapons Permit" but I doubt you'll
be granted one as you can carry a firearm. You may be able to carry a 2" ( or less ) blade and get away with that. Just watch out
for felony charges for CDW ( Carrying a Deadly Weapon ) !

In WA CCW's only cover handguns...no blades. Also RCW 9.36 does NOT define blade length, only restricts certain types of knives; daggers, dirks, switchblades, etc. Some cities (Seattle) restrict blade length to 3". But be aware: ANYTHING that can be percieved as a "dangerous weapon" is illegal! That means if you threaten someone with a wet noodle, and they are in fear, you have committed a felony! As long as you are not acting like a goofball you should have no problems. Might be a good idea to check your local city/county ordinances. Stay safe!

Here is what I have found from talking to the local law enforcement folks. The law in Washington State on concealed folders is 3". In Seattle and Tacoma it is 3.5 ". One officer said that he was able to use the local statute to bring someone in where they could not press other charges right away. It does seem kinda nuts that you can carry a handgun concealed but not a larger knife. What I still wonder about are small fixed neck knives. Enjoy the rain.
