Spyderco Slipits are great, just wanted to tell

#1

Post by skeletor »

I live in a big city in southern Germany and have the urgent need to tell, what fantastic knives the Spyderco slipits are. Since knife laws, general in Europe and also in Germany become stricter and locking knives are (here only under strict regulations) carryable, I don´t feel in any way unsafe with one of my various UKPKS or one of my PITS. They are just awesome and provide super quality with great ergonomics and are perfectly legal. And because the UKPK is easy to dismantle, it is possible to change the scales to custom scales, what even more increases the value of that knife!
So I want to thank Spyderco for their Slipits and want to encourage to keep up bringing knives of that kind to people in the UK or in Germany. :)

I agree. Sometimes here in Germany I carry an illegal folder (= locking and one hand opening) . But my legal EDC kit is now a UKPK and the Street Beat.

Here is another Slip-it fan, this one from the Netherlands. My favorites at the moment are the Roadie and the Squeak. Great small knives!

Welcome to the forum!

I couldn't agree more. Even though I am lucky that knife laws where I live do not prevent me from carrying any of my locking Spydies, I often choose my Urban Lightweight simply because it's such a great design. For virtually all of my normal EDC tasks, I really don't even miss having a lock, to be honest. The grip is secure enough on all the Slipits that you're very unlikely to close the blade on your fingers unless you're doing some sort of aggressive chopping or prying activity that you really shouldn't be doing with a folding knife in the first place.

Hi guys, and welcome! I'm a slipit fan also with a Roadie and an Urban here atm. Wish the UKPK was available in other colours too again. Though there seems to be more good stuff heading our way hopefully. Maybe a PM3 slippie? The Metropolitan, and Navigator style slipit. I'm not sure if these will all become a reality but I hope so!

UKPK Rocks!

Post by LC Kid »

Hi Folks!

Given the knife laws current (and future) direction, the UKPK family is here to stay.

Hopefully we'll see some new G10 UKPKs. Or maybe a fantastic Stonewashed Titanium one? :D

Signed up specifically for this topic...

I bought a Slipit almost on a whim. I now carry it daily because of how well it straddles the lines of being simplistic and archaic, yet advanced and refined (if that makes sense). No restrictions in my neck of the woods except for autos and balisongs, which my CCW permit takes care of. With that said, the UKPK in my back pocket often makes a lot more sense to pass to a friend for envelope opening or apple slicing than the Matriarch 2 in my front.

Keep up the great work!

If we're lucky with the "all golden models get S110V" thing, we'll have S110V on the Caly frame with the split spring UKPK. I'm drooling thinking about it. :)

Ooh yes.

I picked up a Squeak only last year, and have been really pleased with it, but have only held off a UKPK because as I was underwhelmed by the ergo's I never really got to know the BD1 on my Manix LW for myself, and maybe heeded the naysayers too much. Once I get my Elmax Urban LW that may well be enough, though.

My wife gave me a Spy-DK as a wedding gift (it kinda matched my bow tie). It's a perfect light duty knife, and I love how pointy it is. It's also so light, I sometimes forget it's in my pocket.

I really like my UKPK, sort of a Caly 3 but lightweight and legal in Europe.
Also like my Urban and Pingo.

A UKPK or even better, a Denmark PK in 110V?? Could there be a better EDC knife? I think not!

Actually, a G10 handled Denmark in 30V, 90V or M4 would be pretty darn awesome too.

Definitely great, have most of the FRN ones but still need to get a new UKPK, only have the first gen. which was hollow ground with a rather weak 'lock' but I like the newer ones much better. Urban being my favorite.
Might go to UK this summer so that would be a good reason to finally have to get a new UKPK. ;)

I just picked up a LNIB blue UKPK drop-point, combo edge, in Gin-1. I'm loving the shape, the ergo's and it was cheap enough to be a go-to edc. I didn't think I would like it as much as I do, but the FRN handle feels great in hand.
