Signatures on blades

Is there some place to learn what the signature / symbol on a spydie blade means?

And also: Why don't all knives carry one? The 2015 forum knife Native 5 for example doesn't.

It's the designer signature. Eric has his, Sal has his and then have a combo one like on the PM 2.

I thought as much. But is there any info somewhere which signature belongs to whom? Pics?

I did a bunch of pics for a thread years ago, and still have them in my photo bucket account.

I can't help with knives newer than about C102, and there may be some spelling errors in this lot (going from memory here)

Awesome contribution, Echo! Nice work on the collaborators!

Not all in-house designs bear a signature mark, in fact most do not.

Well done indeed, Echo. :)

There have been several new makers added over the years (although I regrettably do not have pictures for their logos): Jens Anso, Marcin Slysz, Pekka Tuominen, Chad Los Banos, Filip de Leeuw, Brian Tighe... to name a few. :)

...which is probably a good sign of the modesty of Sal and Eric. :)

Michael Janich would be another significant addition.

Sorry about the staining... M4 tends to patina pretty quick around here. (I still love it, though ;) )

Isn't his just an MJ symbol?

And Phil Wilson's is obviously pretty easy to figure out, since it's just his signature.

I haven't got anything newer than the Adventura*, so haven't seen any of the newer makers marks.
Chad Los Banos's mark looks like a little oval made up of the letters CLB - i don't have a Spyderco with his mark, but its on a Boker Wharcom i have.

these were taken years ago (maybe 8 years ago) when i was actively collecting knives - then Aussie customs changed the rules, and it became very hard to get knives into the country, and i got married, had kids and my knife funds suddenly became nappies and baby food funds.

the only Michael Janich pic i have is on the Ronin, so may not be the same as other knives he has designed.

*Actually thats not quite true, i have a pair of Roadies, which bear Sal's mark (i forgot about those, even though one is in my pocket every day)

I noticed that the PM2 has both Sal's and Eric's signatures on the blade. Explanation? Who did what? Are there other spydies that carry more than one?

Oh, and I also noticed that on my Urban Leaf, the two parallel lines between the S and the A in Sal's signature have a slightly bigger distance than on other spydies I own. Shouldn't the overall signature design be identical on all spydies?

Maybe it's just because the lines on the UL are thicker... What do you think?

I think it's the latter.. wouldn't worry about it anyway

Thanks. I'm not worried. I don't buy from obscure sellers. :). Just curious to know!

Really curious to learn why there are both Sal's and Eric's signature on the pm2, who did what, and if there are other spydies that have 2 or more signatures on'em...?

Thanks in advance!
