Did i buy a fake Ambitious? (Texas ebay seller)

Hi Guys

Ebay deal was: Spyderco C148GP Drop Point PlainEdge Black G10 Ambitious Folding Knife 2.25"

Just got my first Spyderco in the mail and i am a bit disappointed..
Knife was not very clean, G10 has no real texture and there are small scratches on the pocket clip.
Is this knife genuine or should i request my money back?

I thought i was safe buying from Bedford/Texas.

Box is not very good quality and logo looks sketchy.

Looks alright to me. Spyderco's foam inlay (as opposed to the clones) never fit the box. Most of the time the chinese foam fits "wall to wall" and is opaque. Spyderco's is denser. Besides, i have never seen nor heard of value line copies.

Based on the pictures, it doesn't look fake to me. But I can't say whether it's new or used.

It's probably real. Not sure there is a huge market in faking $30 knives.

Being gritty or even having some micro-scratches out of the box is possible while I wouldn't say "common" or "extremely rare". Then again, I'm not sure if it's a new knife or a slightly used one.

Ok that sounds good, the main reason i got suspicious was the fact that the knife/bag had some oil on it and some fingerprints.

Looks legit to me, you do understand that the Ambitious is from Spydercos value line. They are great knifes for the money but.....

I could not find any, looking under the foam and inside the mailbag if it sliped out.

It's possible you got a returned knife maybe. I find it hard to believe eCop! would scam you on purpose.. Unless postage will amount to the price of the knife, return it! In any case mail them the pictures and tell them exactly what was and wasn't in the package. Hopefully they will give you compensation.

I took the knife apart and cleaned it, it was not very smooth opening the knife so i took out 2 (out of 4) shims and now it snaps open without any play :)
