i'm wondering how many of you are die-hard Spyderco fans, and how many of you have collections of other brands? I am also wondering what brand do you think is Spyderco's top competitor?

I have nothing but Spyderco.Although I would like to get a MT Lightfoot sometime,its the only one I have seen that I like as well as Spydies.I would say thay Spydercos top competitor would have to be Benchmade.

For my folders, it pretty much all Spydies except for my SOG Tomcat, and a couple Cold Steel folders (medium PE clip-point Voyager, and a Vaquero Grande). For fixed-blades, it's pretty much all SOGs, except for a couple Buck Nighthawks, a Cold Steel Gurkha Kukri, a REKAT Hobbit Fang, and a few Ontarios, (including an Ontario/Bagwell ****'s Belle, that I'm due to receive any day now from a recent trade).

Yes, I have many other brands, and I like other styles like traditional slip joints, especially Stockmans. I think Benchmade is <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>cos closest competitor, I do have more <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>cos then any other brand. RKBA!

Whilst I own other brands, I don't collect them like I do Spyderco's.

Other brands I own include:

Swiss Army
Microtech
Chris Reeve
William Henry

plus customs like Obernauf, Mayo....and Scott Cook (MIA!) <img src="sad.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Only collect Spyderco, but do have a few from other brands... Would say that to me the only competition is MT (Haven´t got any though), but I only like some of their knives.

About 97% of my knife collection is Spyderco, the other three percent include a Kershaw Chive, and two Emersons; a green Commander plainedge(thanks Vox<img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>) and a LaGriffe.

As far as Spyderco's top competitor, there is <b>NONE </b> , IMO.

Other brands? Oh well, IMHO ~ Spyderco is in a class of its own... <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0><img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> But of course : variety is the spice of life, so, I do have in my keeps -- knives from other manufacturers such as Camillus, Ontario, Ka-Bar, Buck, Gerber, SOG, Benhcmade, Kershaw, and the list goes on.. While most knife manufacturers had remained traditional, Spyderco had truly been an innovative entity in the knife world by leading with inventions and improvements on man's oldest cutting tool. In short, Spyderco is THE trendsetter.. Mainly spydies for my rotation, but have a few others...

Muela, Vic, MT LCC DA, CS(POS *spit*), and an OLD 110.

I usually pack the Muela 4" skinner as a portable kitchen knife, and it's full tang to boot. Until <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> makes a fixed blade, full tang, lil temp drop point, 4"... well...

Ever notice that you run out of money before month?

Considering price/value, Benchmade is probably Spyderco's biggest competitor. However I think that no other brand beats Spyderco's versatility in types of knives.

But, if I could keep only one, I would keep my Chris Reeve Large Flat-Ground (1 out of 130, hand-signed) Sebenza. Not because it's worth more in money, but for it's superior quality.

Have other brands listed below. Still looking for a NIB Wegner Jr. Any leads appreciated.

Spyderco makes up about 98% of my collection.

The closest compeditor IMO would have to be Benchmade.

I own mostly Spydercos myself. I have one Emerson, 2 Masters of Defense, 2 Cold Steel models, 2 Columbia River and Tool, 1 Microtech, 3 Benchmades, and 2 SOG. Spyderco makes a knife for everyone and doesn't go out and make those ridiculous claims to sell an item. I like that. SOG makes some excellent tools and they are tough as well so it's a competitive market out there so enjoy shopping!!!!!

I own alot of Spyderco knives; however, I estimate that it is only 20% of my collection. I think Benchmade (5% of my collection) is a likely competitor when comparing type of catalog knives and pricing. The remaining 75% of my knives are from various other manufacturers and custom makers.
