Schemp Khukuri

Kukri, Khukuri, whatever you call it, it's a fun design :).
I've had this knife since it was discontinued. Travis did a regrind on it a few years back and made it into a new knife. You have to be a bit careful closing it as it's more a cigar cutter than before :p.
My Spydie collection has shrunken a bit over the years. While there are practical knives like the Caly 3.5 and Ladybug in the SpydiePac it's the weird ones like this that will never leave.
It's really Spyderco's niche if you ask me. Odd blades and the value oriented ones. While there is a place for the $200+ drop point flippers the competition is also pretty stiff in that bracket.
What's your favorite "weird" Spyderco knife? The one that just can't be sold.

Absolutely the Kris, which is yet another Schempp design, unsurprisingly.

Totally concur with you on the Kukhuri and I just happened to chose it for this month's EDC rotation.
Another favorite "weird" design of mine is the slender and curvy Ulize.

I do like the Khukuri and Kris a lot. This is another of my favorite wonderfully weird Spydies... the Shabaria.
The Chokwe is another.

I still don't have a Lava but weird and cool. Also the Ayoob. Massad's ex wife still runs the ayoob.com site and has SE Ayoobs BUT for full MSRP

This struck me as funny, for some reason. I'm sure Mr. Ayoob is not laughing, though...

I love the kris but the Kukri design just never worked for me, which is funny considering I love the design of a real Kukri.

I'm not sure if the site is up to date? It looks like the scheduling only goes to 2009?

They have the SE Ayoobs in stock. I have called her and discussed, tried to haggle her down below $200 to no avail.

The Chokwe is another.
For some reason I never thought about Shabaria is weird. IMHO is it drop dead gorgeous. Neither Chokwe. The blade shape is a little primitive, but this is design intend and handle is beautiful.
Dodo is a little weird, but very handsome as well.

There are two Recurves I wish they would do a Sprint of>> your KRIS model is my #1 request and I also loved the SPYKER which was a collaboration between Spyderco and Kershaw. I loved everything about both folders and if they ever made either one in Spyderedge that would be super.
Getting back to the subject of the thread>> The Khukuri is a very interesting design as most of Ed Schempp's designs are>>I've often wondered what that model would be like in SE?
The one aspect I do love about Recurves and the KRIS model by ED SCHEMPP is truly one that stands out in that regard and that is the blade is always in a slicing mode almost no matter how your holding and/or implementing it. The KRIS is truly one of those Lost Classics that didn't become well liked until it got disco'd unfortunately.

While I don't have a Khukuri but do have many other Schempp designs, to me the weirdest one to date is actually the new Schempp Bowie. I think I need to spend more time with it, but man compared to my big Persian, the Bowie has all kinds of weird, funky features...

Strange. Almost always we feel the same about the same knives. I do not feel that Bowie is weird (especially if somebody just stole it for few bucks :) ). For me it is a beautiful knife. But cannot get ergos. I always thought that most popular grip, especially for knives with blades larger than 3" is a regular grip. But when I hold Bowie like this, the clip is on my was and the knife is out of balance: light handle vs heavy blade+ heavy bolster. The only grip, which I found so far is comfortable is when you choking a blade. Sadly, but ergos are not even close to C83 for my hand. I really hope that I will be able to overcome this. It is very tempting to put to use this 2.5 mm thick blade.
