I don't know if I mentioned this already, but MANY years ago (definitely pre-2010), there was a show, either on Animal Channel or Discovery Channel, where the host went on a boat (IIRC, looking to observe great white sharks off the coast of South Africa). In one scene on the boat, I recall the host using a yellow-handled SE Salt 1. I don't recall exactly what he was cutting with it (either rope or bait?).

Of all the movies Steven Seagal has made
General Commander was one of them.
The gratuitous violence in this one
may have included a Spyderco Endura.
But I could be wrong, I often am.
What do you think?

I saw that too but I couldn't get a good enough look to be certain it was a Spyderco lol

In the new episode of Chicago PD(S10E03) Halstead uses a Spyderco in a fight. I can't tell which model it is for sure but it kinda looked like a PM2 or a Delica

It's probably been listed but we re-watched the movie Firefly this past weekend and noticed one of the bad guys pulled out a Spydie. Had to pause it to show the wifey. She just don't get great cinematic moments the way we do :zany

I posted this clip in the 'Spyderco Knife in Chicago PD' thread, but decided I'd post it here, too. The saber-grind PE Endura 4 is very clearly shown. The knife comes out @ 2:28:

The Rookie: John Nolan has to choose
between the red wire
picked by his psychic sidekick
or the green wire the bomber confessed to
on this necklace bomb. S5E8

Looks like a Delica 4. The guard by the ricasso is more rounded where the Endura is flatter or straighter and your finger is closer to the Ricaso. Probably Saber Grind Combo Edge.

Definitely a saber ground CE Delica 4. I own one. Also, prior to the 4th generation, the Delica had the finer, pointier, non-reinforced tip.

Nolan put his trust in the psychic partner and cut the red wire.
The Rookie is safe for another season.

The Hunter (2011)

I'm certain this movie has already been mentioned in this thread, but Willem Dafoe's character uses a PE saber-ground Delica 4 on a couple of occasions in the film. Here it comes into play at 0:57. He probably would've cut the zip ties and freed his hands more quickly if he'd had the SE version. 🙂

I caught a SS Police in the Beastie Boys Sabotage video. I see that its already been mentioned but didn't see any pics or video (clip is cued to the scene with the knife) so here's a little eye candy.

Is this a REAL Spyderco

#237

Post by RustyIron »

This is from the Netflix show, "Half Bad: The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself." It's Episode 6, 15:26. At first, the knife looks like a multi-blade utility knife. But as the knife is rotated, it looks like a Spyderco blade. Is this a real Spyderco, or some kind of stage prop?

Thanks. Even though their propmaster has poor taste and uses substandard knives, it's a pretty good show. I've found it better to turn on subtitles because the actors are native speakers of a language I can barely understand.

that's not a substandard knife. those are great knives. i prefer the rangergrip model, personally, but that's because i want the toothpick and tweezers and the tools are just a little longer. the rangergrip 79 is a great knife to leave in your backpack as a backup.
