Reccomend a Knife

I would like to get a knife for my daughter who is going away to college. I have narrowed it down to these choices
Chicago
Manbug
Ambitious
Squeak
Equilibrium
I have selected these mainly for their blade size and also for the clip (which ruled out the ladybug). The equilibrium is on the edge (no pun) becasue of the blade design and just the general consensus of what it is like when someone pulls out a knife with an unusual blade design, even though we would not thnk twice about that.

I would do ambitious if you think she might lose it.

Any of those would probably be good. But is she interested in having a knife? I got my wife a Ladybug and she didn't want it, never used it, and quickly lost it. Unless she really appreciates knives, I'd just get the Ambitious.

For EDC? For SD? To keep in the junk drawer? Food prep?

I'd personally recommend the Dragonfly. It carries light in the pocket/purse and is very discreet. It can be clipped or simply carried loosely in the pocket. I also like that it could be used for self-defense in a last-ditch situation. I actually bought my sister the Dragonfly Tattoo when she went away to college. She carries it every day and has never had any issues or problems from NKP. Plus, you can usually get a basic D'fly 2 for around $48.

Not on your list but I couldn't recommend a pink or purple Dragonfly any more strongly. I've given these to all the most important women in my life and they all swear by them and carry them daily still to this day. Congratulations BTW on your daughter's acceptance to college! Cheers, Radioactive :)

I would suggest considering something small enough she could carry on her keys. Ladybug, manbug, maybe even dragonfly.

Yes, the Dragonfly would be another good choice.

I got my wife the SB dragonfly when they first released (as well as one for myself of course) and she absolutely loves it, carries it clipped inside her purse everyday. You might also consider the tried and true Delica, many colors to choose from and always popular.

My wife took my Dragonfly so I had to buy another one. She loves them.
I have a Cat for traveling and it is a great knife for around $43. Mine is finished as good as any of my Spydercos. Another good choice would be a Delica in her favorite color.

I agree with the Rigger < et al. >
Plus, they got a breezy new Purple Dragonfly 2...
Pink ones can also be had, if she's into "girly" colors...
The Dragonfly 2 affords a really safe/secure choiled grip plus it weighs virtually nothing, has a wire clip (removable), and a lanyard hole.
It's the whole enchilada :) :spyder: PLEASE LET US KNOW WHAT YOU DECIDE & IF SHE LOVES IT...SHE WILL!!!

Dragonfly - here's a lady doing a review of the G10 version which she uses for EDC:

Dragonfly. Manbug is actually a great purse option for women, too. Both are very useful but the Dragonfly has a pocket clip and is obviously more of a full sized option. The DF is a great balance of being easy to carry while also being useful for most EDC cutting tasks. The SB Manbug I gave away is a secret favorite of mine, too.

Get 1 purple(orange) Dragonfly and 1 racing green Dragonfly in ZDP189 and swap the blades. She doesn't need to sharpen the ZDP 189 blade so often. And you keep the racing green in VG10 one. It's a win-win situation.

D'fly, although my wife says the one I bought her is too big. She only regularly carries a ladybug which is MIA at the moment.
