Thanks Fallen! Yes, both the re-profiling and the sharpening were done freehand.

I have quite a lot of practice at freehand sharpening at this point, and I am not particularly concerned if the bevels don't come out perfectly even or if I put scratches on the primary grind. If I was very picky about the angle being precisely what I intended and the bevels being even, I would probably just use a guided system like an Edge Pro Apex with the coarsest stone available for putting on the new edge bevel, and thereafter sharpen freehand (to be honest I've considered it strictly for re-profiling jobs).
