your best spydie

what I mean is which model do you personally own that is the best, fit and finish, blade centering, even bevels ect. As received from the factory.

Mine would be my BBS CTS-204P Domino, it came absolutely perfect, so smooth with a perfect detent, the blade is dead on centered and came razor sharp with perfectly even grind and is amazing to flip, comes out with just an easy press.

It's not necessarily my favorite but defiantly the nicest one I've received, so what say you. :)

There have been many flawless models, but recently I'd have to say it was the Hungarian folder I received for Christmas a while back. Absolutely perfect in every regard. :)

I have had quite few that were perfect but I would have to say that my Sage 3 just blew me away. Besides perfect fit in finish the action is absolutely like glass. Smoothest Spydie I have handled and I go to the SFO often and fondle them all.

I like the Hungarian too spydernut, that was the knife my 14yr old picked out on our trip to SFO last thanksgiving and he still covets that knife like it's made of gold and it is a nice one.

Surprisingly enough BFK, I don't even own a sage yet, might just have fix that one of these days. just so many nice ones dropping these days I've been kinda out of control.

A couple of years ago, I was shopping a well known web dealer and I came across a millie ti fluted for a ridiculously discounted sale price, after I rubbed my eyes in disbelief and refreshed the page, the price still stood. Knowing the rarity of this find, I imediately added the millie to my cart and completed the transaction. It took over 6 months for me to receive my order, all the time waiting I was thinking they were going to ship me a dog that just barely passed QC. When I finally got it in hand and scrutinized the fit and finish, I was overwhelmed by the perfection of this example. Needless to say, this millie will NEVER leave my possession. I refer to this blade as Spydercode, as I think the webmaster of this retailer probably lost their job. I kept the receipt that was sent with this Spydie as proof.

In my mind, it's still the C16PS Wayne Goddard model I bought back in 1993. The micarta handle were perfect, the grind was perfect, the action and lockup perfect. Most of all I remember how perfect the edge was. It was the first time I looked at an edge with a magnifying glass. Granted, it was just an old handheld one my grandma used to read the fine print :D

This seems a little silly, and I haven't ever really compared my knives super closely for f&f, but my only true "safe queen" is a blacked out para2. I've even used/carried my cf laminate para, but not the all black one.

I bought it thinking I would do a blade swap with my satin/camo and then have a black/camo user and a satin/black as a back up. Instead, I ended up completely enamoured with the perfect black on black. Pefect centering. Nice, even bevels. Really smooth action and early lock-up. No scratches or little inclusions on the blade or g-10. I don't really know why, but it stands out to me and is one I want to stay perfect and pretty much bnib, even though I have a bunch of more expensive sprints.

Its between 3 actually.
Vallotton, BBS Domino & Black Southard.
If I had to pick a winner, it'd be the Vallotton I reckon.

With the Domino a very,very,very close 2nd!
On second thought, I might just have to give it to the Domino. I mean, its just so nice to use. I like it so well. I bought a back up. Yup, gonna say overall, the BBS Domino. That's a hard decision fellas!

Honestly most of mine would fall into this category. I feel I've been lucky and have scored some of the best of each model that I own. It would be easier for me to list knives that had less than perfect F&F, which honestly I don't really care to do because I don't wanna put any thoughts into anyone's heads lol.

David, I would imagine having a nice brick and morter really helps. I and I'm sure others, is just the luck of the draw when ordering online. I've heard you and JDavis mention before about being able to choose which specimen you wanted. Man, that would be nice :)

I'm right here also.

One of the things that helps me is I really only order from 2 dealers. And one of the two gets 95% of my orders. They open and check centering, even blade grind etc on every order for me. Maybe that's just a sign I've ordered too many blades from them.

Over the 10 plus years I have seriously owned Spydercos I have had literally hundreds of perfect knives from them. The knife that really struck me was the Slysz Bowie. This knife is perfect in many ways. The design and blade shape are really special. Once you combine the attributes of the design with the perfect production of this model you really get, IMHO, one of the greatest everyday carry knives of all time. The Slysz Bowie slips in your pocket and melts away for carry. I love the simple wire clip that holds firm but not to firm. It comes out of you pocket at the perfect size and weight. Fits in your hand so as to not slip but also to not give you hot spots while cutting. It slices like a lazer. Just one of the best folders I have ever had the pleasure of using. Simple and elegant.

I have been carrying an old Spyderco Jess Horn Jigged bone folder this week and believe me the quality of this folder is precise and jewel like. Really a special old Spyderco that really shines in it's perfection.

Black on black Southard was the best F/F I had until the Chokwe got here yesterday. The blade grinds are absolutely perfect. Blade centering and the buttery smooth (out of the box) opening.....and lockup is an ideal (to me) 40%. Lock bar is non-sticky, even after opening and closing for a few hours.

Didn't have to tweak this one in any way, and in a few weeks she'll be wearing a nice TS Kevlar scale from Steve.

Most of my Spydies have perfect F&F. I cannot just name one. I can name only few with less than perfect F&F.

Techno first place hands down, Gayle Bradley and Farid K2 tied for second place. Seems like anything out of Taiwan is an winner.

Probably the Rubicon is the most perfect. But pretty much all my Taichung models have been exceptional.
Another one that stands out is my orange jigged bone Delica. It's by far the best finished of all my Japanese Spydies.
