Country Knives

Has anyone bought from these guys, they are insanely over priced but actually have one or two I'm desperate for.
Happy to be part of this great forum and group of down to earth spyderco addicts, Thanks Sal and gang.

I have not bought from them, but I have browsed their site often and they do indeed have some rare ones. I want the PE Micarta Calypso, the S90V Manix, and a few of their UKPKs, but due to the price, I haven't been able to justify it.

I picked up a few long-disco'd knives from them and was happy with the results. Order shipped the same day I bought it and arrived two days later, knives were packaged tight and secure and seemed new. I had no complaints, although shipping was $12.50 for me and it was just two Spydie boxes. I'd pay it again for the knives I got though, nowhere else had the knives I bought in stock.

Right on guys, thanks for the quick replies, I guess the reason they have some of these hard to find disco's are those crazy prices, I really really want to pull the trigger on that 3.5 Caly SB but man my Credit card has been taking a red headed step child beating lately, I just dont know how much more it can take..... :D

If my math is correct you are currently on pace for over 500 spydies this year already.

I've bought several rare Spydies from Brian Huegel at Country Knives, and he also posts here on this forum from time to time. No issues for me with them, other than the super high prices you noted (although some aren't too bad) and expensive shipping, and don't try to talk Brian down on any prices, he just won't :(. There's a few they have that I need this year to round out some series. Hope that helps, cheers, Radioactive :)

As others have said, the folks at Country Knives are great people to do business with. As with most others, I've only used them for things I cannot find elsewhere, but their service has always been top notch. Yes, in today's world of deep discount online marketing they're "behind the times", given that they do not discount any of their knives, but that's their right and their choice and I respect them for it.

Country Knives is legit. To date, I've purchased several hard-to-find Spydies from them and have been very happy with their service. True, their prices are often near full MSRP, but this is probably because many of their Spydies are rare/discontinued models. Also, I've had the good fortune of meeting Brian at the BLADE Show and he seems to be a pretty honest guy.

Hi Folks!

Country Knives is the place to go when Disco'd-Very-Hard-To-Find blades are the task.

Not cheap at all, but those rare pieces actually would reach very high prices anywhere else on the web.

They are great for those times you are looking to fill out a hole in a collection on a long disco'ed knife. With their setup and server ( last I was there anyway) browsing can be tedious but they have some gems. The price is obviously part of the reason for that but they sure never seem in a hurry to sell a knife. It can sit around some years and the price won't drop. Not that I've seen. They have other stuff you can't access from the internet. They had some Barminski made Vascowear kit knives some time back. Not in the website. I saw them in the pictures of the store. couldn't access them through the website but a call to a very polite and helpful staff got me that knife. It would be fun to graze the shelves in person.

Country Knives isone of the few full service full inventory Spyderco dealers. Brian, Catherine and their staff do an amazing job. Beautiful store. Very knowledgable afi's. I dealt with Brian's father before he retired and Brian took over the store.

They do have outrageous prices, even on current models. The Native Tan series are still available in my Navy Exchange, and they're $75.00, not the $175.00 Country Knives is asking.

Yes their prices are higher, but you can not go into your NEX and handle several different Spyderco designs (including discontinued ones) to compare them, or discuss with the clerk the merits of one steel versus another. In fact, most of us can't go into your Navy Exchange at all, so it's hardly a fair comparison.

Many of these knives go for more than MSRP on the secondary market, and although they may be NIB, by their very nature they are second hand.

Their prices are higher, but that's the very reason they even have some of these in stock. I think using terms such as "outrageous" or "scalper" is a little bit rude/inaccurate, especially when many of us lament how we just can't find a B&M store to handle the new spydie before we buy.

Edit: My apologies for being a bit sensitive to this. I own a business that sells a high end service and I can sympathize with others doing the same. They are offering more than your average online retailer, whether or not you value that is one thing, but implying that they are attempting to take advantage or profiteering is just inaccurate.
